Lifestyle | The Best Workout Gear to Get You Motivated for 2018

Gym Wear

Looking to start 2018 with a new fitness regime? Why not start with a new gym wardrobe to help get you motivated?  There's nothing like buying something new and looking forward to wearing it so if you plan on hitting the gym in the next few weeks or to get out those running shoes here is the perfect excuse to splurge on something new.

I've been on the look out for the cutest pieces that will not only keep you looking good but also have you feeling confident to tackle those squats so you are top of the class.

Okay, so a Gilet isn't a gym essential but it's an alternative to taking a coat with you when you want to keep cosy travelling to and from the gym.  This one from Matalan is a total bargain and the colour is gorgeous!

Whether it's a 5k or full marathon it's important you invest in good running shoes that provide plenty of comfort and support. Nike running shoes have never failed me in the past and this simple black and white design is classic and versatile.

Mesh and panels in clothing is a big fashion trend at the moment and by the looks of things it is going to continue in 2018.  These power leggings in burgundy are a little different from your average black but not to jazzy so if you aren't a fan of prints these may still appeal.

I absolutely love this backpack from Sweaty Betty. The unique shape is unusual and gives you plenty of room to keep all your exercise essentials, including a dedicated space for you water bottle so it doesn't leak.  The rose gold detailing is cute and totally on trend at the moment so not only is this bag practical but fashionable too.

This backpack is even big enough to double up as an overnight bag or casual bag as you can fit a 15" laptop inside and more. Even though there are cheaper on the market I think it's worth every penny, I purchased one of these a couple of months ago and love it. It's super comfy to wear too!

Available in a gorgeous burgundy tone too if you fancy something different to black!

These skin tight leggings have a fun design which incorporates splashes of pink on the lower leg. The material is tight fitting to provide comfort and support.  It also allows for good movement in any direction thanks to the 4-way stretch construction.

Looking for a cute, simple top to team with your leggings or shorts? This t-shirt is perfect. Available in charcoal grey, mint green and baby pink this casual, lose fitting top is perfect for those who don't like tight clinging gym clothes.

A must have for working out is a sports bra and this simple grey one from BooHoo with it's white trim is super cute.  It's versatile colour means it will be suitable to wear under an assortment of different colour tops plus as the straps are narrow it will suit a variety of styles.

Available in dress sizes, it makes it easier to buy the correct size as I often find the bra type sizing on sports bra's are so different to normal bra's it takes forever to choose the correct one.

I really love this slim line tank top. The colour is stunning and the style flattering and unusual yet supportive. The touch of black at the waist line gives the illusion of a slimmer waist and the cross over racer back design adds gorgeous detailing to keep you feeling confident and fashionable.

Review | Lush Twilight Shower Gel Review

Lush Twilight Shower Gel Review

Twilight is a shower gel I first came across a few years ago but I re-visited it recently due to loving Lavender scented products at the moment. If i'm honest I couldn't really remember what it was like but the deep purple tone gives the sense of richness which appealed with these dark, cold nights so this is the one I reached for.

I tend to prefer a creamy texture to gel but Twilight still feels light on the skin and I like that the scent isn't too overpowering.  You have a hint of lavender in the background but because this is teamed with a blend of sweet tonka and the more floral ylang ylang it results in a nice balance. I think even those are aren't a big fan of lavender may also like this product as it has an usual twist.

Twilight is especially nice to use in the evening as it is soothing and it definitely helps me to relax before bed. I was a little disappointed it doesn't lather up as much as other Lush shower gels I have tried but it didn't dry out my skin at all and I didn't have any reaction which is always something I worry about when using new products as I have sensitive skin.

Lush Twilight Shower Gel Review

Whilst I like Lush shower gels and do use them occasionally I find them a little pricey for what they are so it isn't something I would buy on a regular basis. More as a nice treat now and then.  Twilight is a shower gel I would definitely purchase again but it still doesn't beat Snow Fairy.. my all time favourite!

Twilight shower gel is only available to buy from Lush in gift sets such as the 'Relax' or from the Oxford Street Store £11.99 for 250g.

Re-Launching My Blog - Why I had to take a break from Blogging and You Tube

Why I had a break from blogging

Hello Everyone!

Those of you who may have come across Kimberley's Beauty Blog before may have noticed I haven't been posting for a while.  There are a few reasons for this that primarily it was down to my health.

Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever which causes extreme exhaustion. This wasn't long after getting engaged so as well as wedding planning, having a full time job and blogging I was now poorly  I just couldn't keep up with everything and couldn't risk getting more poorly so something had to give and sadly it had to be my blog. I was devastated because i'd worked so hard to create a brand for myself and to lose that so quickly was heart breaking.

I'd originally planned to only have a break for a few weeks but I had further issues with my health, nothing serious but it meant I just wasn't up to blogging again.  It took months to finally find out it was caused by an allergic reaction and when I finally started to feel a bit better I started to get one throat infection after another, caused by being run down, stressed and food intolerances.

Eventually, from July this year my health has been far better and i've been feeling back to my old self which means I can start blogging and you tube again. This makes me very happy as I have missed it so much!

So what is planned for the future of Kimberley's Beauty Blog?

  • I aim to post twice weekly, most probably Tuesdays and Friday's to start with.
  • I want to get back into filming You Tube videos and will try to upload once a week. This is likely to be Sundays.
  • I'm thinking about re-branding but haven't quite decided if I should do this yet... what are you thoughts?
  • My content will be much the same as before, I still love all things beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I absolutely adored wedding planning too so expect the odd wedding related post popping up too.
  • I'm still on social media so come and say hi! My Twitter and Instagram accounts are @KimberleyJ77

Blogging | 15 Blog Post Ideas

15 Blog Post Ideas

We all have those moments where we have writers block so if you are stuck below are some ideas that might give you some inspiration!

#1 Interview Someone - An interview is a great way to add something a little different to your blog and I love reading these type of posts to get to know people better. You could do an interview with yourself to share more with your readers or interview your fellow bloggers. My friend Stef from Scottish Stef's Nails interviewed me a while ago for her blog and it was a lot of fun.

#2 Favourites - Share your favourite's with your readers. This could be monthly, yearly or one off posts and could cover a variety of different areas. For example, although my blog focuses on beauty products from time to time I also share other favourites too such as food, books and candles.

#3 Guides/Tutorials - Love makeup or craft? Why not try writing up a guide/tutorial for your readers to follow so they can re-create it.

#4 Share your experiences - This is a wide area and could cover a whole host of different blog post ideas from experiences within the blogging world, life or more specific topics.

#5 Tags - There's always tags floating around the internet which will give you a list of questions and can be a great way to add something different to your blog.

#6 Collections - If you have an interesting collection of something such as makeup or other items you collect you can write it in a single or series of blog posts.

#7 Share your bucket list - A craze which has been around for a while is to have a bucket list which is basically just a list of things you want to do within a certain time period. I love reading these and seeing how everyone's goals in life differ.

#8 Wish Lists - These are really fun posts to create and I love reading them. My favourites are obviously fashion and beauty related but this can be applied to anything.

#9 Share your favourite bloggers/You Tubers - It's great discovering new blogs and You Tubers and I think it's so lovely when I see posts like this. Spread the word of the people you love to watch/read.

#10 Food Recipes - This one depends on the niche of your blog but if suitable maybe add some fun food related posts into the mix. These can be tutorials, recipes and simply foods you are loving at the moment.

#11 Holiday/Travel experiences - If your blog is more travel/lifestyle related why not try sharing some of your travel and holiday experiences with your readers? It's a fun way for people to learn about new places around the world and there's nothing better than word of mouth.

#12 Blogging Stories - Again, this is a wide area so you would write a whole host of posts on this one. Maybe think about what first got you into blogging? What you love about it? Tips/tricks you have learnt along the way?

#13 Start a series - I love reading series on blogs and it makes me go back time and time again. This can be anything such as 'Top 5 Lipsticks' etc the world is your oyster!

#14 Get to know you - This is similar to number 1 but instead of an interview type post with specific questions why not just tell your readers a little more about the person behind the blog?

#15 Favourite Apps - Lastly, everyone these days is either glued to a smart phone or tablet and using the thousands of apps available to us daily. Share your favourites with your readers!

I hope you found this blog post useful :)

Beauty | Spring and Summer Beauty Wish List

Spring and Summer Beauty Wish List

My Spring and Summer beauty wish list.....

I've totally given into the hype on this one after reading lots of reviews and watching endless You Tube videos. This palette looks gorgeous and perfect for Spring and Summer, particularly because I have blue eyes and these peach shades will really make them 'pop'.

I'm also a big fan of Too Faced products anyway, their Better Than Sex mascara is a favourite of mine and I also have a couple of their other eyeshadow palettes, sadly not the chocolate palette yet but that is also one I would love to add to my collection.

Keep your fingers crossed this comes back into stock soon because I'm itching to try it!

Another Too Faced product that I've been wanting to try for a while now are the Melted Metal Lipsticks. I love the range of colours that are available, especially Macaron and love all the cute names they give their products. Surprisingly, I haven't ever tried any lip products by this brand before so i'm interested to see what they are like... they look very pigmented and glossy!

It's getting to that time of year where the weather is improving and I'm in need of a little help to get that perfect golden glow so a self tan is definitely a must for my wish list. In the past I have used a lot of products by St Tropez but I fancy trying something a little different and Fake Bake is brand I've tried in salons for spray tans but never used at home before.

I'm looking for a product which gives a natural tan, provides easy application, is quick drying and streak free. From reading reviews online it looks like Fake Bake would be perfect so I definitely want to give it a try!

Every time I go into Superdrug I spot these bath and shower gels and am amazed by how unique and delicious the fragrances sound. Again, this isn't a brand I have tried before but I definitely plan to as they sound wonderful. The packaging is cute and the colours of these products really jump out at you.

I've tried a few different primers over the years but i'm yet to find one I like as much as Benefit Porefessional which I turn to over and over again. I'm really keen to find an alternative and I've found a lot of people have been positive about the Laura Mercier Primer so I would love to try it. I'm a big fan of their skin care products but I've never actually tried any of their makeup before so this will be a first for me.

I love using different blushes in my makeup routine and a favourite brand of mine is Bourjois. They have a really lovely range of colours, the formula's apply beautifully to the skin and they are a must have for any makeup bag.

Recently I've been wearing a lot of coral inspired makeup so I'd love to try this particular shade. I think it will add a lovely pop of colour to the cheeks for a simple, fresh look during Spring and Summer.

What is on your beauty wishlist?

Lifestyle | Cuppanut Review

Cuppanut Tea Review

It's no secret I'm a big fan of coconut whether it's using coconut oil as a hair mask, drinking coconut water or purchasing products such as moistuisers and shampoo's with a coconut fragrance so when I heard a new brand of infusions called Cuppanut were due to be launched on the market last month I was very excited to try it.

This innovative product has been launched by International Superstar Gareth Gates, who first shot to fame in 2002 during the reality television series Pop Idol and has been following a very successful career ever since. As well as continuing to tour around the country performing at his own gigs he has taken lead roles in musical theatre including Joseph, Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and more recently Footloose (to name a few). Now the star has turned his hand to business and due to a combination of his healthy lifestyle and experimenting in his kitchen has come up with his new venture, Cuppanut.

Cuppanut Tea Review

Cuppanut infusions are bio degradable tea bags filled with real coconut which is mixed with a variety of different flavours. The first is 'Coconut' which is pure white in colour and smells delicious. The taste is slightly sweet, clean and full of flavour without being overpowering.  To make, you simply add water, no milk or sugar is needed.  Whenever I drink this one it reminds me of hot sunny days and holidays due to the tropical fragrance. Coconut is well known for it's health properties including, reducing cholesterol and protecting against heart disease and stroke so it is definitely something which is becoming more popular and people are starting to introduce it into their diets more and more.

The second flavour is 'Coconut and Cranberry' which is equally as tasty and looks beautiful too. When water is added to the tea bag it turns a pretty shade of pink (my fave yay!) and you can instantly smell this sweet, fruity mix.. it is divine. This is one of those drinks which is tempting to drink far too quickly because it smells so good and you risk burning your mouth but believe me it is worth the wait.

The final infusion is 'Coconut, Ginger and Turmeric' which has a more earthy flavour and turns the water golden. Not being a fan of ginger I was a little skeptical about this one when I first tried it but I have been won over by this unusual combination of ingredients.  This warm spiced tea has a hearty flavour which I really enjoy drinking in the evening. Ginger and Turmeric is also said to possibly have anti inflammatory properties.

The packaging of the Cuppanut infusions is simple and 'natural' looking due to the use of simple brown cardboard for the boxes. I think this no fuss packaging suits the brand perfectly as these infusions are full of natural, pure, raw goodness and no artificial colourings or caffeine. They are cute, the font is modern and they would definitely jump out at me on a shelf. When I opened them up I was also surprised to see how pretty the teabags themselves look. Each flavour has its own distinct colour and I've never seen any other 'tea' products like it.. they almost look too nice to use!

The thing I love most about these teas is not only are they good for you but they taste amazing whether you have them hot or cold (they would be great in the Summer in pretty glasses, with ice and fruit e.g cranberries). The three flavours are also so different that no matter what your mood is there is a Cuppanut for you!

Cuppanut will be appearing on your highstreet in a popular retailer soon but if you can't wait that long take a look at the Cuppanut website where you can order each box of teas online (delivery is fast). Each box contains 15 teabags and are priced at £4.20 per box. You won't be disappointed!

I very much looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Cuppanut. It has now become my 'go to' drink.

What do you think of infused teas and which Cuppanut flavour would you most want to try?

Review | Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Salt Scrub

Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Salt Scrub

We are well into Spring now and if you are in the mood for some pampering then I would definitely recommend giving your skin a treat with the Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Salt Scrub.

Not only is the baby pink packaging adorable with 'Well Earned Treat' scrolled over the lid in swirly writing but this product smells amazing. It's literally like Summer in a pot! This thick salt scrub is bursting with fruit infusions including peach, mango, orange and passion fruit with a hint of sandalwood. The result of this combination is a delicious fragrance.

To use this salt scrub scoop a generous amount into your palms and apply to the skin in circular motions, paying particular attention to more troublesome areas such as the elbows, knees and ankles which often suffer from dryness. After use rinse well with warm water and your skin is fresh, clean and ready for Summer! You will also notice a subtle hint of the scent linger on your skin for a short time after which I really like.

Exfoliation is beneficial as it keeps the skin fresh and healthy by removing dead skin cells from the surface. The process of cell regeneration is something the body also does naturally but it slows as we age so as you get older it becomes more and more important to give your skin a helping hand. Exfoliating will make your skin look less dull and help prevent an excess of oil, clogged pores, dry, rough skin, blemishes and acne because it prevents the build up of dead skin cells. This is it particularly important to do before applying fake tan as it prevents a streaky/patchy result.

I've been really impressed with this product, not only does it smell amazing but it's a good strong scrub that doesn't irritate my sensitive skin at all. I would even go as far as saying this is the best body exfoliator product I have used. Needless to say I will definitely be re-purchasing this!

If you want to try to Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Salt Scrub you can purchase it from Boots for £10.00.

Review | Lush Beautiful Shower Gel

Lush Beautiful Shower Gel

It's been a while since a properly reviewed any products on my blog but that doesn't mean I haven't been enjoying Lush products as always. One of the most recent products I have tried is the aptly named 'Beautiful' Shower Gel and it's a good one.

'Beautiful' is a very pretty rich orange/yellow shower gel which has flecks of pretty glitter dotted throughout it. They are so fine they give that extra bit of sparkle which makes this product feel extra special without them being overpowering and leaving you looking like a disco ball (they leave no shimmer at all). Perfect for brightening up those early mornings!

The texture of this shower gel is very thick so you only need to use a little at a time to get a good lather and it smells delicious. The mixture of fresh peach juice, dried apricots and osmanthus absolute creates a sweet yet fresh and slightly floral scent which is just perfect for Spring and Summer!

My friend kindly bought me this shower gel as a gift and I'm so pleased she introduced me to it as it's lovely. It makes a nice alternative to my old favourite Snow Fairy and I would definitely repurchase it.

If you want to purchase the Lush Beautiful Shower gel it is available in Lush stores for a variety of prices depending on the price. The one I have photographed here is the medium size and is £9.75.
