Benefit Erase Paste Review

Hello Beauty Lovers!

I hope you are all well.  Today's review is on Benefits Erase Paste.  This is a concealer which comes in an adorable, small, pink and purple pot.

Being an expensive concealer (priced at £19.50 at Boots) I was expecting great things.  Personally, I like this product but I don't think it will be for everyone.  The formulation is very thick as you might expect from the 'paste' description.  Therefore, if you prefer a more liquid concealer you won't be a fan of this.  I like it because it gives good coverage, is creamy and very blendable.  Also, it isn't quick drying which is something I look for in a concealer.  I don't like to be forced to work very quickly with a product.

As for shades, there isn't a huge selection - in fact there are only three.  At the moment I'm the pastiest I've ever been as I haven't been on holiday for a while so I have the lightest colour  - No 1. Fair. However, I don't consider myself to be very, very pale and therefore I think people who are would struggle to find a good colour match.  The same is true if your skin is darker, having only a very limited number of shades means it isn't going to work for everyone.

I use this erase paste to both conceal blemishes and hide any darkness under my eyes.  I think it works well for both but for application I would definitely recommend gently tapping/blending it onto your skin using your ring finger.  If you work too heavily with the product it soon disappears which is the case for many concealers.  As it's so thick I also wouldn't apply it with a brush as I find the warmth of your fingers helps to nicely blend the product.

As for smell... I really don't like the smell of this product.  It's hard to describe but it isn't pleasant at all and it doesn't have any added fragrance.  It isn't a major disappointment, though.  The smell isn't strong at all so you only notice it if you sniff the product in the pot.. on application you don't notice it at all.

A nice touch is that this concealer comes with a step-by-step concealing and brightening lesson and a spatula.  Personally, I've never used the spatula, I don't really see the purpose of it but it may appeal to some people.

The Benefit Erase Paste is available from Benefit Cosmetics for £19.50.

Have you tried this concealer?

  5. Thanks for the review :) I rekon I would hate this product because I hate thick products and I'm also very very pale so I reckon even the light one here would be too dark! thanks for the warning! :D www.cherrytruth2.blogspot.co.uk

  7. I agree with you, it is very... paste-y, but I think that's what they were going for! It has good coverage, but I find that the blending takes forever and the available colors are pretty limited! Great review :)

  11. I hear so many good things about this but the lightest colour is way too dark for me. Benefit should offer it in a wider range of shades :(

  12. I haven't tried this concealer yet, as I'm still using up my Laura Mercier undercover pot, but I want to try this next. Or maybe the MAC studio finish concealer.

  14. I'd really like to try this but as I'm so pale even 'fair' would probably be too dark! What a shame about the lack of shades, but a very helpful review. I have been eyeing this up but I may wait until they widen the range (hopefully) :) xo

  15. Aww, shame it's not excellent as it is quite expensive. I personally love Lasting Perfection concealer by Collection, it's really affordable.
