Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara Review

Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara

This is YSL's bestselling mascara and the packaging is gorgeous.  It comes in shiny dual gold toned box and the casing is metal, gold, shiny and slim line making this mascara the perfect shape to slot into your handbag. The embossed YSL brand name over the lid and tube makes this mascara look and feel expensive.  I love the sleek, simplistic  design of this mascara which is to the point and isn't fussy.

This mascara is available in a broad range of colours including:

- High Density Black
- Extreme Blue
- Burgundy
- Rich Brown
- Deep Night
- Fascinating Violet

This large variety in colour means there is something for everyone whether you want to go with your standard black like me or be a little more adventurous.

As for the wand..I love it as I'm not a huge fan of plastic applicators and this is far from that.  The distribution of the product is also great as you don't have to worry about wiping off any excess product before application.  This is always a plus for me as this isn't something you should have to do with a mascara and it can be messy!

The staying power of this mascara is good that I have found it a little hard to get off at the end of the day (and this isn't a waterproof one).  I have sensitive skin and my eye area does get sore very quickly when removing my makeup if I'm not careful so my extra caution probably plays a part in this too.

I love that this mascara doesn't make my lashes clump together as much as others I have tried, the colour is very black and it definitely adds volume! Even with just one rushed coat you can definitely see a difference:

*Note - These pictures are taken without any other eye makeup or the lashes being curled.

This mascara is available at many places and is priced at £23.50 at Boots and YSL Beauty.

What is your favourite mascara?

TIP: For the best results, apply your mascara by start at the inner eye, moving up the lashes root to tip whilst wiggling the wand and pushing downwards with your eyes onto the wand.  Repeat this process right across the eye to the outer corner.

  2. The packaging is really beautiful and it looks like it really curled your eyelashes. but £23.50 for a mascara is a bit steep for me :)

  3. I tried a YSL mascara in burgundy/dark purple once, not this exact one, and even though I loved the color (and the smell of it!!!) I found the mascara to flake quite a lot as time went by..I still have it and do use it from time to time, but was quite a bit disappointed.. Yours is a different kind, the wand of mine is different (I do prefer the wand in yours). I have to agree with you though, the packaging is just gorgeous!!

  4. I really love the packaging but too me it looks slightly clumpy and I'm not a big fan of that look,so for the price, I won't be buying it, but I'm sure many people like it when the lashes really look thicker like that ! great review though ! Have a nice day !
