Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer Review

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

Today I will be talking about the Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer by Maybelline.  This concealer has a gel based formula which is best used to cover dark circles under the eyes and minor blemishes.  The formula also diffuses light which means as well as concealing it illuminates areas making your skin look bright and healthy.

This concealer is available in 6 shades which although is small and won't suit all skin types is a much wider variety than other concealers on the market:

- 320 Ivory
- 310 Radiant
- 340 Buff
- 330 Nude
- 350 Beige
- 360 Honey

The packaging of this concealer is in the style of a pen, with a small brush at one end and a twist dispenser at the other. This is compact and slim line so is perfect to pop in your handbag to use throughout the day if necessary.  When first using this product you need to twist the applicator several times before any concealer materialises from the centre of the brush bristles but after this you have to twist it very little for the product to appear.  I have a love hate relationship with this packaging.  I do like the idea of the brush and twist concept but this style of packaging means that you don't get as much product (you actually only get half of the middle of the pen filled with product.. the rest is all the twist mechanism) and therefore I don't think it is great value for money.  I also find it hard to control how much product to dispense because you can't see how much is coming out..  Despite this, this product is light, very creamy and blendable so you're not left in a gloopy mess if you get too much.  It is manageable and doesn't affect the appearance of the concealer but it is wasteful.  Lastly, although the brush is soft and nice to use it makes the lid messy if you do not clean it and it also isn't very hygienic to leave the product dry on it and then re-use which I admit I do at times because I'm lazy!

Moving on to the actual concealer, as mentioned it has a creamy texture of a medium thickness.  It blends quickly and evenly into your skin and covers dark areas around your eyes well (I have never used this to cover blemishes).  I think it is most suitable for people with oily-combination skin as the formula is quite dry as it settles.  This isn't so much a problem if it is fully blended into your skin but if you miss a bit it takes some effort to remove and can look cakey.  I have found moisturising before using this product gives you the best results but even with this sometimes it can look a little patchy and dry if not blended properly - not good if you're rushing and not being as careful as maybe you should!

This product isn't bad but it hasn't wowed me either.  I have used it every day since buying it because it does the job and is quick and easy to use but I wouldn't rush out to buy it again because you don't get that much product for the price and sadly it's too dry for my skin. This concealer is available at Boots for £6.99.
