Maybelline Baby Lips Review

The Maybelline Baby Lips are one of those products that is surrounded by hype.  Before they even hit the UK everyone had heard of them and was itching to try them and I expect like me you haven't stopped hearing about them over the past few weeks. I must admit I didn't really get why there was so much hype about a lip balm and I wasn't bothered about trying this product when it did launch in the UK.  However, when I was in Boots the other day I saw the Baby Lips hanging on a display and thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.

Priced at only £2.99 the Maybelline Baby Lips are super cheap and the packaging is adorable.  I love the bright summery colours and graffiti writing which pops out.  There are 6 different Baby Lips included in the range but so far I haven't found them to be widely available.  I've mostly just seen the clear ones or 'Pink Punch' which I will speaking about today.

Pink Punch is a gorgeous bright fuchsia pink shade  which at first may seem scary to people who aren't used to wearing a bright lip colour.  However, this shade is perfect for people who love a bit of colour on their lips but don't want something very bright and obvious because the finish is sheer.  This beautiful shade will also appeal to those of you who love a bright lip.  It will never be as bright as a fuchsia lipstick but the colour is buildable and you can get a lovely pop of colour on your lips.

The moisturising properties of the Baby Lips are said to provide 8 hours of hydration which is quite some claim but one that I fully agree with.  I don't find it necessary to keep re-applying throughout the day because my lips do not become dry but I do anyway just because of the colour pay off.  This is a great two in one product and one that can also be used on the go without a mirror as it is sheer and not messy. The formulation is gorgeously creamy and soft and the smell takes me back to my childhood as it reminds me of Hubba Bubba bubble gum.

So that's it.. I've given into the hype and I must agree the Maybelline Baby Lips are completely worth it.  They are brilliant value for money, (only £2.99) give you a gorgeous splash of colour and are great at moisturising your lips.

Have you given into the hype yet?

  1. I have totally given in to the hype, but only just recently as I have been a slavish user of EOS. I did make a mistake when getting them though. I bought the nudey coloured one (sorry, can't remember the names and they are in my cupboard - don't want to start rummaging as it will wake my husband up!) and the mint one. The nude? I adore. The mint? Can't stand it as it smells of spearmint which I really don't like at all. On the other hand, my daughter was really happy to get that one off me!

I did find they didn't last 8 hours on me, more like 4 to 5 but that is on a par with my EOS so I was really happy.

One thing I think they leave EOS in the shade for is the texture. EOS can drag across the lips a little but Babylips? They just glide on. I find myself using my EOS for a lip primer now, and it works really well for me!

  7. I have the cherry something color. I really like it, though I find the candy smell little annoying. I agree with the hubba bubba smell, I like it for a short amount of time, then I get annoyed by, but I am not really a scent type of person anyway.
