There was a time when I wasn't too keen on the thought of using dry shampoo but now it is a must have product for me. I not only use it to brighten up second day hair but also to add volume at the roots. A very well known brand of dry shampoo is Batiste and is definitely a favourite of mine.
Up until now I have just stuck to using the original versions of the product but one that caught my eye a couple of weeks ago is their XXL dry shampoo. The original is good at adding volume so I had high hopes for this product. Therefore I decided to purchase a large can.
I applied XXL as I would any other dry shampoo, so this involved lightly spraying a little at my roots, massaging it in with my finger tips and then brushing it out. After the last stage, however, my hair looked unusually flat so I tried to 'poof' it up a little with my fingers. This did add volume but not particularly evenly. Disappointingly, I also found that my hair now had a slightly tacky, heavy substance on it which I didn't like. It reminded me of the kind of substance you get from volumiser's such a the VO5 Oomph powder but stickier and not something I was expecting so it came as a shock.
I guess this product does do what it says on the tin, it adds volume until you brush your roots but I wasn't expecting the formulation to be different to my normal dry shampoo. If I'm honest I would rather use the two separate products, so a dry shampoo and the Oomph powder if I want to achieve this result rather than the 2 in 1 Batiste version. I think in future I will stick to the original Batiste range, which I love!
