Today I have a review of yet another Mac product but this time one I haven’t touched upon on my blog before, the paint pots.  I have three MAC paint pots in my collection and today I will be sharing my thoughts on each of them.

The packaging of the MAC paint pots are chunky glass pots in comparison to the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s but are still easy to store.  You also get a huge amount of product which will probably last me a lifetime as I don't actually use them that often, but they are really great to use if you're in a rush and just want a splash of colour all over your lid.

Mooncake

Mooncake is a Pro Longware Paint Pot from the limited edition Baking Beauties range. It is a pretty, frosty white colour which works well on it's own, combined with Éclair or over the top of shadows.  It is completely different to all the other cream shadow’s I own because they are far darker than this, which is the main reason why it caught my eye.  When I have used it, however, it is far more sparkly than I first thought so it is more suitable for evening looks rather than day.  The sparkles also fall out a little throughout the day so if you’re not a fan of glittery cheeks or under eyes then steer clear.  I think this is the only thing that lets this product down, though.  The texture of the formulation is beautifully light, smooth and creamy, making it very easy to blend over the lid without having to rush.  It is also easy to wipe away any product (before it dries) if any has gone where it shouldn’t have.  The removal is also pretty easy so doesn’t leave you with sore, red eyes. This shadow creases a little but overall it's pretty long wearing, easily lasting all day without fading.

Éclair

Éclair is also a Pro Longware Paint Pot from the Baking Beauties collection.  The colour is described as a light chocolate with gold pearl but I find it to be more of a warm toned deep brown, bronze with subtle shimmer.  The texture of Éclair is smooth, silky and creamy making it extremely blendable.  It dries quickly enough to prevent creasing but not so fast that it is hard to work with, you definitely have time to apply it over your lid and blend.  Éclair looks gorgeous all over the lid for an evening look and I especially like it when combined with Mooncake, whether it be underneath or blended out into the outta corner and crease.  Without primer, this cream shadow easily lasts all day and evening without fading or creasing.  This is definitely my favourite Paint Pot of the three.

Rubenesque

Rubenesque is a Pro Longware Paint Pot which is easy to find because it is part of the permanent range.  I find Rubenesque to be an unusual shade when applied as in the pot it looks like a pretty gold with a subtle hint of pink and peach but on my lids it always seems to be more orange toned.  This has often put me off using it in the past and if I'm honest I'm not entirely sure if I like it.  The texture, like the other paint pots is extremely smooth and creamy but I find it dries very quickly so is hard to work with.  You must work it with speed over your lid to apply and blend otherwise it can cause the finished look to be patchy.  Due to this, I would recommend using your fingers for the application as the warmth gives you a little more time.  The quick drying also means it is hard to remove any mistakes.  Rubenesque is a versatile shade which can be worn sheer with one coat or layered to get a more opaque finish.  It is also pretty long lasting and doesn't crease.

In case anyone is interested, I plan to do a full comparison post between the MAC Paint pots and Maybelline Color Tattoo’s… so watch this space!
