MAC Vanilla Pigment Review

I'm a girl who loves to add a highlighter to the inner corner of my eyes so when I heard about MAC Vanilla Pigment I just had to try it!  Previously I always used the eyeshadow 'Shroom' as my standard highlighter because it adds that perfect pop of colour for during the day.  Not too bright but also not too subtle either so I wondered how different vanilla pigment really was and why everyone was raving about it.

Pigment is a loose powder which according to the MAC website, is highly concentrated and contains ingredients to help it adhere to the skin.  I agree it is very concentrated and when I use this my eyes look wide awake and bright.  Vanilla also seems to have a very slight gold shimmer to it as well which is a lovely added extra.

MAC Vanilla Pigment is very easy to blend and is buildable so you can add more colour if you like.  Although, it is loose it isn't as messy as you may think and if you are careful there is no fall out. You can also use it for a variety of things if you're feeling adventurous.  For example, add it to nail varnish, foundation, moisturisers and matte powder products to add a shimmer.  Vanilla Pigment can also be used as a highlighter on your brow and cheek bones, however, it may be a little too intense for some.

I've used the MAC Vanilla Pigment on and off for around a year now and I although I love it I do think it is really expensive for what it is.  It is a little brighter than Shroom but I don't think it really worth having both.  I also wish the pigment pots were available in smaller sizes as you barely use any so it isn't really necessary to have so much (unless you are going to use it in all the ways I mentioned above).  If different sizes were available it would reduce the cost and make it a much more worthwhile purchase.

You can buy Vanilla Pigment from the MAC website for £17.00

  6. I agree about wishing these came in smaller sizes. There is no way you could use this whole thing up.

  11. I know Shroom is a really popular shade but I actually own Phloof! for the same inner highlighting purposes. I've always eyeballed this pigment but can't justify the price when I already own so many highlight shades!
