Autumn Winter Ankle Boots

Tan Buckle Autumn Winter Ankle Boots from New Look

Black Autumn Winter Ankle Boots from New Look

Brown Stud Autumn Winter Ankle Boots from New Look

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. I'm a little addicted to shoes/boots.  Three new perfect Autumn/Winter additions to my collection are all very different from each other and any I already own and they are all from New Look.  New Look are really on top of their game at the moment.  I used to shop there when I was around 14 and then seemed to grow out of it a bit and other shops like Topshop, H&M and Jane Norman became my 'go to' stores but now that has all changed.  New Look is by far one of my favourite shops and I love to go in there and see what treats they have on offer.

Black Ankle Boots

These black ankle boots are made from real leather with a rough, matte finish.  The block heel means they should be comfortable to wear for several hours if not all day and they are perfect for both casual and evening wear.  The boots have a round toe and black inside zip also.  I love the simple, no fuss design and envisage me wearing these boots a lot of the coming months whether it be with skirts, dresses or trousers.

Tan Buckle Ankle Boots

These tan ankle boots are really unusual and nothing like any in my collection.  In store I probably wouldn't have thought twice about buying them but I actually spotted them on the new look website on one of the models and loved them.  Again, these boots can be worn with skirts, dressers or trousers and could be worn for both during the day and evening.  I love the double buckle detailing at the side, the cut outs and contrasting dark brown heel against the tan.  I can't wait to wear them!

Brown Stud Ankle Boots

The brown ankle boots sport a distressed leather look and are an unusual shade.  To me, they aren't tan but aren't quite brown either, instead somewhere in between.  They have gorgeous gold stud detailing on the outta edge and top as well as a double zip on the inside and outside of the boot.  The outside one is purely for decoration only.  Again, these boots have a round toe and it is most likely I will wear them with jeans rather than skirts and dresses.  The chunky block heel isn't too high so these boots should be pretty comfortable to wear for a few hours.

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Skin Energising Daily Face Scrub

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Scrub

Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face Scrub

The Clean and Clear Morning Energy Face scrub looks great on the shelf because of the gorgeous orange packaging.  I'm not normally a big fan of orange but these particular shades remind me of a sunset and really make the product stand out. This was definitely the first thing that drew me to this product and I haven't looked back since.

I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful what products I use, especially facial scrubs as I don't want anything too harsh.  The Clean and Clear Morning Energy skin energising daily facial scrub is perfect for my combination skin.  The formulation is a thick gel full of beads which gently cleanse my face leaving it feel refreshed, clean, soft and smooth. It is perfect to use every day or a couple of times a week and it doesn't leave a greasy residue as the gel is oil free. Personally, I think this product falls more into the face wash category than face scrub, though. It is a only very gentle exfoliator so I do need to use a slightly harsher one once a week but it is great to use in between as it isn't too abrasive on the skin.

The formula of the Clean and Clear facial scrub smells lovely and isn't overpowering at all.  It also contains vitamin C which is good for the skin and ginseng which is a popular ingredients appearing in several products on the market.

I really love this face scrub because my skin reacts well to it so it is now a staple in my skin care routine. I use it 2-3 times a week and I will definitely repurchase when I've run out! This is actually my third bottle :)

You can buy this Clean and Clear face scrub at Boots for a bargain price of £2.99.

What do you think of this face scrub?

If You Could Only Have One.. What Would it Be? Tag

If you could only have one.. what would it be tag?

I was recently nominated for a really fun tag by Beauty Queen UK called 'If You Could Only Have One... What Would it Be?' You are all tagged to do it too so please leave your link in the comments below if you do so I can have a read!

Primer
I love the Benefit Porefessional primer because it works to disguise pores as well as, make your makeup apply better and last longer. You've got to love a multi-use product!

Base Product
My favourite is definitely Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.  This foundation is gorgeous. I like the texture, smell, application.. everything!

Concealer
At the moment I'm really liking the Benefit Erase Paste. It is great to use on blemishes as well as under the eyes to hide dark circles.

Powder
My MAC MSFN in Medium Plus wins this one.  This finely milled powder looks natural and a little goes a very long way.

Blush
Nars Amour is a favourite of mine at the moment.  It is a pretty rose pink shade which gives you a natural flush to the cheeks.  The formulation is perfect.

Bronzer
This has got to be another Nars product. Yes, you know it.. Nars Laguna!

Highlighter
MAC Soft and Gentle is actually the only highlighter I own so this one was easy!

Make-Up Brush (single)
The Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki.  I use this to apply my foundation and it gives a flawless airbrushed finish.

Eyebrow Product
The MUA bro palette is great and brilliant value for money too.

Eye shadow (single)
Wow this one is difficult. Hmmm I guess I use Naked Lunch by Mac a lot so let's go with that one!

Eyeliner
I wear the pencil L'Oreal Smoky range, the L'Oreal Super Fine liquid liner. Both are brilliant, easy to use and stay in place for hours!

Mascara
Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara is my favourite because it defines my lashes, adds length and volume plus the colour is very black.

Lipstick, Lip Gloss or Lip Stain
MAC Girl About Town lipstick is a favourite of mine.  It is a gorgeous bright pink that really brightens up my face.  Perfect for summer.

Lip Liner
Dior in Beige is a great lip liner because it is natural and goes with a lot of shades.

Lip Balm
 Dior Lip Glow is amazing.

Nail Polish
Essie Muchi Muchi is a pretty pastel pink shade which I often wear.

I'm surprised that this tag was actually much easier to do than I thought.  When I first read the list I thought I would struggle to pick just one for each but other than eyeshadow it was pretty simple! Such a fun tag to do and really gets you thinking about the products you love.

I TAG EVERYONE!

Nars Sin Blusher Review

A swatch of NARS Sin blush

A picture of NARS Sin blush

As we are now in Autumn I have been looking at some new makeup looks to match the new season.  One blush in my collection which jumped out by a mile is Sin by Nars.

This beautiful pink/purple berry blush has a subtle gold shimmer and goes perfectly with plum, burgundy or my favourite, berry shades of lipstick.  Like all Nars products, the quality is extremely high and this blush is very pigmented meaning you need very little to achieve the required look.  This is great because it means it will last much longer, however, you do need to apply with caution as you don't want to end up with a heavier makeup look than expected.

The formulation of Sin is soft and creamy so it is very easy to work with and blend.  It gives a gorgeous hint of colour on the cheeks which is a refreshing change to your typical pink and suits the season well.  I'm really looking forward to using this blush a lot more in the coming weeks.

I've mentioned Nars packaging several time before but for those of you who are new to Nars I will give a brief explanation.  The packaging for all Nars ranges is consistent and has a luxurious feel due to the soft, rubbery texture of their compacts.  They are different from any other packaging on the market from what I have seen and I love that they are so slimline.  They aren't bulky at all and are brilliant for storing in Muji drawers as you can even double them up if you like.  The name of the products is clear on the back of the palette and the compact also has a mirror which is a great size.  I am always forgetting my handbag/makeup mirror so I'm always making use of the Nars ones!

You can buy Sin blush from the Nars website for £21.50.

What do you think of this blush?

The Body Shop Hand Creams

The Body Shop Hand Creams

The Body Shop Hand Creams

The Body Shop Hand Creams

The Body Shop Hand Creams

You know the feeling that if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is? Well I thought that as soon as I got an email from Voucher Codes about a free hand cream from The Body Shop.  I looked into it a little more to find the catch but there didn't seem to be one so I printed off a voucher and made my way to The Body Shop later that same day.  To my amazement when I approached the counter, handed over my voucher and asked for confirmation that there was no requirement to buy anything to receive the hand cream the lovely staff confirmed that it was true.  After picking the Almond scented one I left the shop a very happy lady indeed.

There are four hand creams to choose from which have different properties:

Almond

The scent of the almond cream is gorgeous.  It is sweet but not overpowering and also contains vitamin E which helps to nourish the hands and strengthen nails.  This is what sold this one for me. The formula is quite thin and wet but it absorbs very quickly leaving no residue on your hands.

Hemp

This cream is much thicker than the others and has a subtle, pleasant scent.  It is most suitable for people who have very dry skin.

Absinthe

This cream has a fresh clean scent.  It is suitable for normal skin types and aims to make your hands feel fresh and clean.

Rose

The rose scent is beautifully fresh and summery and is suitable for normal skin.

Get the voucher for your free hand cream by clicking here.  The voucher ends on 30th September and the gift is only while stocks last.

Which hand cream do you like the sound of?

NARS Alhambra Eyeshadow Duo

I've spoken about my love of Nars before so it will come to no surprise to you that in this post I will be raving about another one of their products I adore.

When it comes to eyeshadow I am pretty picky about the brands I use because this is one product I find can be very hit and miss.  In the past I have tried eyeshadow's from different brands which have been chalky and impossible to blend so when I find a brand I like a tend to stick with it.  Nars is one of those brands.

The Alhambra Eyeshadow Duo is stunning.  The packaging is consistent with other Nars products, sporting the soft, rubbery, black compact which I really like and the eyeshadow's themselves look gorgeous popping out from their black surround.  Both shades are neutral, shimmery colours which can be worn both during the day or evening.  The first, being a pretty champagne pink and the second a light, frosty gold.  Both shades are soft and creamy so they blend very well and are buildable so you add as much colour as you like.  I love the subtle shimmer they give and they are great to use all over the lid or as a highlight.

You can buy the Alhambra Duo from Nars for £25.00.

What do you think of the Nars Alhambra eyeshadow duo?

Hair Extensions, YAY or NAY?

My natural hair with no extensions

Having had long hair pretty much all my life I had never considered hair extensions as I always associated them with people who had short hair and wanted to add some length for a special occasion or something. However, this all changed when I watched a video about them by Fleur de Force and idea has stuck.  Fleur described how people with long hair can also benefit from hair extensions and how they can subtly change your look. Although, I have long hair, ideally I would like it to be another 2-3 inches long in length and fuller as it's fine, so suddenly I was very interested in something I previously didn't give a second thought about.  The above picture shows my natural hair (with no extensions).

Since, I have been doing a lot of research including surfing the net, watching videos and asking friends and have found out that the most suitable hair extensions, although more expensive are those made from Remy, natural hair. Remy hair extensions ensure the hair follicles are all facing the same way so the quality is better and the hair is easier to maintain.  It makes sense because if you can imagine some of the roots being at the top of the extension when you brush or style them it's not the natural way the hair would grow, it's like brushing your own hair upwards instead of down which doesn't create a great effect and can damage your hair.

One website which offers a huge array extensions is Seek Hair.  I've never seen so many variants in styles (straight, curly, wavy etc) colour, lengths and weights.  Something else which is rather unique is that the hair is grouped by ethnicity, so there are Indian, Malaysian, Peruvian, and Brazilian hair types available.  I am from the UK so I don't fit into these categories by the products sound great and have definitely given me a lot to think about. I didn't realise so much choice was available!

Every time I see pictures of people wearing hair extensions they look lovely and most of the time you would never even guess they were wearing them which really adds to the appeal.  I would love to find out more about hair extensions.  For example, how to maintain them and how to make them look as natural as possible so I have a lot more knowledge to gain but it is fun to research and get to know a different product than what I am used to.  It really does give you food for thought and it seems buying extensions isn't as simple as it may first look.

Before I consider hair extensions I have a lot more learning to do to make sure I find the ones that are best for me and actually decide whether I really do want/need them.  If I'm honest I still haven't 100% made up my mind whether to get any but we shall see. If I do buy any it will definitely be clip in ones as you have more flexibility when to wear them and they sound very simple to use.

What are your thoughts on hair extensions, yay or nay?  What do you think of people with long hair wearing extensions?

Autumn Lip Products

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours

Autumn Lip Colours MUA, MAC, MUA, REVLON, SOAP AND GLORY

Autumn is here and it is the perfect time of year to start wearing those gorgeous berry and red shades.  Here are some of my favourites:

MUA Lipstick in Shade 6

Priced at only £1 MUA lipsticks are amazing value for money and are available in a variety of colours.  Shade 6 has beautiful deep red/berry tones lwith very subtle gold flecks.

MAC Lipstick in Rebel

Rebel has been a favourite of mine for around a year now.  It's a gorgeous deep pink berry shade and is perfect to wear on dark evenings to brighten up any look.

MUA Lipstick in Shade 1

MUA Shade 1 is very similar to shade 6 but feels a little heavier, has a slightly darker, richer tone and a more matte finish. There is still a slight shimmer there but not so much making the colour a little more intense.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

Crush is a deep purple/pink balm/stain which gives a pretty sheen to the lips.  This Kissable Balm Stain lasts on my lips for hours even after eating and drinking although the colour does fade.  The best way to wear this is to apply a little and press your lips together as if you use too much I have found it can go patchy after a while.

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam

Plum Jam is a combination between a gloss and a balm.  The finish is sheer so is perfect for people who don't like a bold lip or are new to wearing berry and red tones.  The colour is buildable too so if you want a little more colour you can get it but it will never be as strong as the lipsticks mentioned above.  Plum Jam is also very moisturising on the lips and looks great both on it's own and over other lip products.

Which is your favourite?

The Skincare Tag

The skin care tag

It's been a while since a did a tag and admittedly I have been nominated for a few over the past couple of months and have been rubbish at getting organised to do them. I finally got round to doing the first one today.  The Skin Tag which I was nominated to do by Beauty Queen UK.  Here goes...

THE TAG

Describe your skin care routine in 5 words

Cleanse, Tone, Exfoliate, Moisturise, Treatment (occasionally)

What's your skin type?

My skin type is combination.  My T-Zone can get oily (usually in the summer) and everywhere else is normal.

What's your favourite skin care product?

This is really difficult because there are so many variations of each product so instead of picking one overall favourite I will pick one for each part of my skin routine I mentioned earlier.

Cleanse (REN Cleansing Balm)
Tone (REN Clarifying Toning Lotion)
Exfoliate (Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed)
Moisturise (Clinique  Superdefense)
Treatment (REN Glycolactic Face Mask or Alpha H Liquid Gold)

Top blemish zapper

Thankfully I have never suffered badly with spots (touch wood) but if the odd one decides to make an appearance and I feel like it needs a helping hand to go I will dab a little Tea Tree Oil on it.

Face wipes yay or nay?
Yay.  I often use face wipes to refresh my face, tidy up any makeup mistakes or in the initial stage of removing my makeup.

High-end skin care or high-end make-up?

Wow this is difficult! In an ideal world I would want a healthy mix of both but if I really had to choose then I would say high-end skin care.

What's the most unusual skin care product you've tried?
I haven't tried any unusual skin care products.  I have pretty sensitive skin so I tend to stick to things I have used before or things which are very well known.

You're in a French pharmacy and can only pick up one item - what is it?
Bioderma!

Tell us your top skin care tip
It is very tempting to try lots of different products but it really isn't good for your skin.  Instead, you should slowly introduce new products into your routine and give your skin a chance to get used to them.  By this I mean at least a few months.  This way, you will be less likely to have a bad reaction to them resulting in blemishes and break outs.

I TAG EVERYONE!
