Perfume Holder / Travalo Review

Travalo

Perfume Holder / Travalo

I'm a big lover of perfume and I wear it every day unless I don't go out so I definitely knew I needed a Travalo in my life! This is basically a small, compact spray bottle which holds enough perfume for up to 65 sprays.  It is perfect to keep in your hand bag because it is only small and means you are able to refresh your fragrance wherever you go whether it be when you are out and about during the day or on holiday.

I bought my Travalo from Debenhams and it is definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made.  It is compatible with any perfume and to use you simply press the bottom of the Travalo onto the spray of the perfume and pump it until you reach the required amount.  There is a little window on the side so you can how much fragrance you have left and when you need a little more you simple refill it over and over.  The only downside is that it can obviously only hold one perfume at a time so you must pick the one you want carefully.  I also personally, wouldn't like to refill it with a different one when it runs out either as I wouldn't want to mix the fragrances.

This is the perfect stocking filling for men or women and very useful!  You can purchase a Travalo from Debenhams for £12.49.  They are available in a whole host of colours.

What do you think of the Travalo?

Dainty Doll Blush Review

Dainty Doll Blush

Dainty Doll Blush
(Above: Powder Blushes)

(Above: Cream Blushes)

Dainty Doll Blush

Whilst surfing the net looking at what Fragrance Direct had to offer (I love that site) I came across Dainty Doll blushers.  This brand is by Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud and is primarily aimed at people who have a pale complexion, although of course these can be used by anyone.  After reading numerous positive reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy a few as they were priced very cheaply.  I'm afraid I can't remember the exact price  I paid as it was quite some time ago but if I was to hazard a guess I think they were about £1-2 each which was a massive saving seeings as they were once being sold in stores for more than £10 if I remember correctly.

Dainty Doll was originally available in Boots but I've heard it was discontinued, hence why you don't see it around any more.  You can still pick up the odd item online, though if you're interested.

The packaging is basic and slim line which makes it very easy to store however it is disappointing that the box names the shade but the product itself only has a number.  It makes it pretty confusing when trying to remember which are which.

In total I ordered four blushes, two powder and two cream which in reality are exactly the same shades just in different forms. Here's a little more about each one:

Powder: My Girl / Cream: Paper Roses

These are both pretty baby pink shades that have a soft, smooth creamy texture.  The powder blush isn't cakey or chalky so applies nicely to the skin whereas Paper Roses has a silky texture which isn't sticky or tacky.  This also blends very nicely into the skin.  Both of these shades are pigmented well and give a natural glow to the skin without being too overpowering.  I definitely think these would be suitable for people with a pale complexion as well as those that are a little darker.

Powder: You Are My Sunshine / Cream: Orange County Girl

You Are My Sunshine and Orange County Girl both look gorgeous in the pan due to their pretty pink/peach shade and gold shimmer. As with My Girl and Paper Roses, the formulation is soft and creamy so is perfect for blending, however, the pigmentation of the powder in this case is more pigmented.  Orange County Girl is pretty sheer but is buildable so you can easily get more colour if you want.  This makes this blush particularly good for those with a pale complexion and You Are My Sunshine would be better suited for a wider variety of skin tones.

Sorry for the picture heavy post but as this isn't a particularly well known brand and these products are only available online I wanted to include as many photo's as possible.

What shade is your favourite? Have you tried anything from this brand before?

Christmas is fast approaching, the decorations are in stores, lights are popping up in towns and the shops are full of gifts.  I'm someone who always feels the cold so I love wearing jumpers and wrapping up warm.  After attending an event at Burton earlier this month and seeing the adorable Christmas jumpers it has really made me want to add one into my collection and there is no doubt sometime next month I will start wearing it.  The question is, what one?  I've been hunting around the internet and pretty much every store on the high street has an assortment of Christmas jumpers in their collection so it is pretty hard to choose but above is a collage of some of my favourites.

Which is your favourite Christmas Jumper?

Dune Black Roll up Rhinestone Embellished Ballerina Shoes Review

Dune Black Roll up Rhinestone Embellished Ballerina Shoes

Dune Black Roll up Rhinestone Embellished Ballerina Shoes

All girls who wear heels will know that even though they look fabulous at the beginning of the night, by the end your feet ache and if you're really unlucky you may have some blisters and cuts too.  In the past I have always carried on struggling through the night because I don't like to take off my shoes which really isn't good for my feet and is very uncomfortable. This got me thinking about alternative footwear and ideally something which would fit into my evening bag.  I'd heard of roll up shoes before but had never looked into them but when I saw House of Fraser had a big sale on it seemed like the ideal time to get looking for a pair.  This is where I found these beautiful rhinestone embellished ballerina pumps by Dune.

The pumps are black so will go with any evening outfit I wear which is exactly what I wanted.  I also like the extra detailing of the rhinestones and bow because it makes these shoes pretty and attractive.  These are exactly the style of pumps I would usually choose.  The shoes also come with a little bag to carry them in which is nice for storage but it is a little bulky to fit in a hand bag and it also isn't big enough to fit heels in so I never take it out with me.

These Dune ballerina shoes are pretty compact when rolled up so can easily slot neatly into a clutch bag such as this Michael Kors one.  Before trying on the pumps I assumed they may pinch because they do not lay flat but they are extremely comfortable and on every occasion I have worn them have been a life safer.  My friends are now all going to invest in a pair too as they are the perfect addition to your hand bag and definitely a must have for me now!

You can buy these pretty roll up ballerina pumps from Dune for £25.00.

What do you think of these pumps?

Baker Days Letterbox Cake Review

Bakerdays cake

It's pretty hard to believe but today is my blogs one year anniversary and the lovely people Baker Days have sent the perfect cake to celebrate with.  This cake is called a 'Letterbox Cake', something which I have never heard of before but is a genius idea.  Basically this cake is the perfect size to fit through your letterbox so you don't need to worry about collecting it or not being in when it is delivered as it will be at home ready and waiting for you.  The biggest fear with a cake being posted is the risk of damage but Baker Days packed this cake very securely so it looked perfect when it arrived.  Not only was the cake itself in it's own adorable tin (which will make a lovely keepsake) but also in a box so there was no risk of it moving or getting squashed.  Inside the box you also get balloons, a party blower, candles and a card which is perfect because with this one order you really do get everything you need!

The letterbox cake is available in a variety of designs including Birthdays, Christmas, Humour and One Direction as well as many others.  I also love that you are able to create your own, so you simply send Baker Days the pictures and they will personally make your very own unique cake.  This makes the whole process very exciting and one I will definitely be trying again at some point in the future.

As for flavours, there are a whole host on offer so there really is something to suit everyone, even those which special dietary requirements. The options are:
  • Sponge cake
  • Chocolate Chip made with Belgian chocolate
  • Fruit Cake
  • Gluten wheat free
  • Gluten Free
The Baker Days Letterbox cake aims to feed 3-4 people so is perfect for a small group and not only does the design look pretty but the taste is amazing.  The sponge is light and moist and the cake itself is sweet without being too much.  This is a really delicious cake and my family really enjoyed sharing it with me.

You can buy your own Letterbox cake from Baker Days at the bargain price of £14.99.  There are also different sizes available if you want to share this delicious treat with more people!
There will be also be a video review of this cake soon so keep a look out for it!

Radox Chamomile and Jojoba Oil Shower Gel Review

I'm always trying out new shower gels and one of my favourite brands is Radox because they have so many different scents and formulations available.  The latest one which caught my eye is chamomile and jojoba oil initially because of the packaging.  The mixture of the white and pink looked pretty on the shelf and one is my favourite combinations (hence my blog design hehe).

This shower gel has a cream based texture so feels extra luxurious on the skin and after using it my skin is left soft and smooth.  The scent isn't particularly strong and isn't one of my favourites but it's pleasant and nice to use so I will definitely finish using what is left in the bottle.  I'm not sure if I would purchase this shower again, though.  There isn't anything wrong with it, it just hasn't been one of those products that has blown me away.

You can buy this Radox shower gel from Superdrug for £1.99.

Urban Charm Bracelet Review

Urban Charm Bracelet

Urban Charm Bracelet

In my favourites last month I featured this gorgeous bracelet by Urban Charm.  The strap is weaved from a soft white material which means this bracelet is comfortable to wear and fully adjustable as you can wrap it around you wrist as many times as you want.  I always wrap it around my wrist three times and I love the unique look this gives.  It is unlike any other bracelets in my collection.  This style is also very on trend at the moment as a number of the Pandora bracelets also allow you to do this.

The bracelet is held together by a magnet which means it is super easy to fasten and it actually stays together very well.  At first I feared maybe it would easily undo and I would lose my beautiful bracelet but thankfully that isn't the case at all.  This bracelet also features a pretty silver heart encrusted with stones which sparkle when they catch the light.  The opposite side of the charm sports heart cut outs which adds another unique feature to this bracelet.

I absolutely love this bracelet and have worn it regularly over the past few months.  Many of my friends and family have also commented on it.

You can buy this bracelet or others in the collection from Urban Charm. It will make the perfect stocking filler!

What do you think of this bracelet?

New Look Microwavable Wheat Owl Review

New Look Heat Up Owl

Over the past couple of weeks the temperature has definitely dropped in the UK and I am really feeling the chill. I am one of those people that always seems to be cold unless I'm relaxing on a beach in a hot climate so I try and find as many ways as possible to keep warm.

One thing I love are these microwavable animals that I noticed started appearing in stores a few years ago.  Others I own have a removable pouch full of beans you microwave but this adorable owl is simpler to use because you simply put the whole thing in the microwave for up to two minutes and it's toasty warm! It also has a subtle scent of lavender so is really relaxing to use in the evenings whilst chilling in front of the TV with some candles alight.

You can buy this adorable owl from New Look for £9.99.  It is definitely a cute alternative to the traditional hot water bottle!

What do you do to keep warm in the winter?

#TheWinterProject / Winter Accessories

Winter accessories

1. UGG Sheepskin Shearling Earmuffs in Chestnut Brown - John Lewis - £75.00
2. Thinsulate Heart Button Capped Glove - Accessorize - £12.00
3.Leather Riding Boots Roberto Vianni Telma - Dune - £119.00
4.Bubble Fairisle Scarf - Accessorize - £27.00
5.Beige Mohair Mix Cable Knit Bobble Hat - New Look - £5.99

The second theme in The Winter Project series is winter accessories.  This was a really fun tag to do because I love winter accessories and there are such a wide amount available on the high street.  The accessories I have chosen are all things that I would buy, own already or have something similar in my collection and to me they are all Winter essentials. First are ear muffs because I often find I get earaches from the cold and therefore always wear them when I'm outside. I was lucky enough to get the UGG ear muffs pictured here for my birthday and not only are they cute but also comfortable to wear and very warm.  You can also plug your ipod into them if you want to listen to music which is a fun added extra! Second are mitten gloves which I love because it means your hands stay warm but you are not restricted as when you need to do something such as use your phone you simply pull back the flap and your fingers are revealed. Next on my list are flat knee high boots which I wear pretty much every day during winter.  They are brilliant to wear at work and commuting, are comfortable, stylish and warm. Lastly is a warm woolly scarf and bobble hat which are a must if you are to keep warm, especially as we are expecting our first flurry of snow in the UK this week!

What is your must have Winter accessory?

Born Pretty Watch Review & Discount Code

Born Pretty Watch

Born Pretty Watch

Born Pretty Watch

wrist watch is a popular fashion accessory but finding one that's both fashionable and affordable can be a challenge.  Often a watch can also be a collectable as there are so many different styles on the market people often like to have a few and swap them depending on their outfit.  This isn't something I personally do and I'm quite fussy when it comes to watches because I have small wrists so I'm not a fan of anything that looks too big, heavy and chunky.  I like a watch which is feminine, smart, sophisticated and goes with a whole host of outfits whether they be for day or evening.

One of my favourite women's watches at the moment is this gorgeous white leather quartz analog wrist watch from Born Pretty. The strap of this watch has a texture which adds dimension and the material is soft so it is comfortable to wear.  This watch features a large clock face but because of the contrasting colours and gorgeous rhinestones that outline the edge I don't find it to be overpowering when wearing it on my wrist. Instead, I think it works perfectly. The packaging is also adorable because the watch comes is a in box designed like a present so this watch would also make a lovely gift for someone.

I love this watch, it is gorgeous and can be worn all year round as it looks pretty with summer dresses because of the light, fresh colours but also goes well with jumpers in Winter. You can check out this watch and more such as bracelet watches, LED watches on the Born Pretty store here.  They also sell a lot of other lovely products. If you quote the code KIMBERC10 you will also receive a 10% discount!
