LUSH SEANIK SOLID VOLUME SHAMPOO BAR REVIEW

Lush Seanik Solid Shampoo Bar This photo was taken with my phone under shop lights and is not the true colour. The below photo's show it in true form.Lush Seanik Solid Shampoo Bar

Hello Lovelies! Today's blog post is about a recently purchased treat from Lush.  I've been a big fan of the bath bombs, bubble bars, shower gels and liquid shampoo's for years but in the last few weeks I have been trying out a product unlike any I have used before, a solid shampoo bar.  I've looked at this product once before in Lush, so long ago I can't remember and I was put off because I thought it would be a lot of hassle to use and if I'm honest I did find the idea of solid shampoo to be pretty strange.  However, a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend a Lush event in London where we were able to speak with their experts about the products and view demonstrations.  After always being a little intrigued by this unusual product I asked one of the girls about it and she kindly told me more about the product and demonstrated how to use it. At this point I was totally sold so decided to treat myself to one.

Lush offer several different solid shampoo bars in their range so it was pretty hard to choose just one but in the end I went for Seanik which is said to add volume. Being someone who has long but fine hair I need all the help I can get when it comes to volume so I'm always trying out new products. I had high hopes for this one.

Seanik is a gorgeous bright blue solid round bar that contains seaweed, sea salt and lemon.  The mixture of these ingredients is said to add shine and volume to hair as well it make it soft.  Sounds perfect right? Since purchasing this product I've used it every other time I've washed my hair as I like to mix up the shampoo's I use and every time I have been very impressed by the results.  My hair does have a beautiful shine and I would even go as far as saying that this solid shampoo adds more volume to my hair than any other shampoo I have tried thanks to the sea salt. The volume is added from root to tip and it doesn't make my hair frizzy so I don't necessarily have to style it if I don't want to and unlike some other volume shampoo's I have used in the past even after straightening, my hair is still full of volume.  On the down side though, I don't find this shampoo makes my hair particularly soft so without fail I use a conditioner (although I always do anyway!).

The scent of Seanik is very hard to describe so I would definitely recommend taking a look at it in Lush but it contains mimosa, jasmine and orange flower essential oils which gives a gorgeous floral fragrance.  It is a pretty, subtle scent which lingers for a while after washing your hair which I really like.

Unfortunately, there are a couple of downsides to using a solid shampoo bar. Firstly, I find it a little messy to store because after using it I leave it on the side of the bath which leaves a blue ring.  It isn't a big deal to me because it's easy to clean but it isn't quite as tidy as popping your shampoo back in the cupboard.  I also wonder how easy this product will be to use as it gets smaller.  At the moment I use it in two ways. I either hold it and rub my hands together with a little water so it foams and then put it on my hair or directly rub the bar on my hair.  Both methods work well and I think it's pretty much just down to personal preference what you choose to do but as the bar gets smeller I think this may get a little more tricky. On a more positive note, although this shampoo bar is only small, for mid-long hair I have been advised you can get around eighty washes out of it which is amazing. Due to the size, this is also the perfect product to take on holiday as it will take up much less room in you case than a bulky bottle.. so that means more space for shoes and clothes which can only  be a good thing!

Overall I have been really impressed by this solid shampoo bar and I'm really glad I tried it.  It is now part of my hair care routine and I love how it gives my hair a boost of volume and also contains only natural, ethical and animal friendly ingredients.  Seanik is yet another Lush product I love!

You can buy the Seanik solid shampoo bar from Lush for £5.99

  4. I don't think I'd get on with a solid shampoo bar, like you I'd struggle with how to store it and use it. It is certainly a novel idea and something I will be checking out next time I am near a Lush. Lovely review, it's great to read a well-rounded and lengthy piece.
