Monthly Favourites | April

April Favourites

Another month has come to an end which is crazy.. I really can't believe how quickly this year is flying by but it does mean I get to share my monthly favourites with you again! I love doing these posts because it really makes me think about the products I've been using and I love writing about them and getting your opinions too! If you have any monthly favourites please leave your links below so I can have a peak! Onto my choices for April.....

Urban Fudge Hairspray in Iced Raspberry and Vanilla | Review | Link

April Favourites: Urban Fudge Hairspray

You guys know me by now, I love a bit of pink and the Urban Fudge packaging makes use of this colour in a fun and different way. I love that it is bright and stands out on the shelf because so many brands stick to neutral or pale colours for packaging.

As you can imagine this hairspray smells incredible and again is so different to anything else on the market from what I have seen. Iced raspberry and vanilla sounds so delicious you could eat it let alone spray it on your hair and I love that it doesn't have that chemical like smell hairsprays often have.

Another feature I love about this product is the texture and staying power. I'm not a fan of hairsprays that change the texture of my hair to be crisp or sticky, instead I like it to remain soft and move so it looks more natural. I'm so glad this product offers this as well as amazing staying power as I often need my style to stay in place all day and evening.

Whether I use this hairspray to keep my curls in place or to stop flyaways I have never been disappointed.. this product is amazing!

Chanel Cream Blush in Inspiration | Review | Link

April Favourites: Chanel Cream Blush in Inspiration

I'm relatively new to using cream products on both my eyes and cheeks as previously I wasn't really drawn to them for some reason.

The latest addition to my collection is the Chanel cream blush in 'Inspiration' which is a gorgeous natural pink which is really easy to wear. It looks great teamed with light make-up for an every day look or even with heavier make-up for the evening because the shade is such a natural and subtle colour. I love the glow it gives my cheeks and thanks to the creamy, soft texture it blends beautifully onto my skin.

Compared to other cream blushes I have used in the past the staying of this Chanel one is much better. I think this might be because the formula isn't as wet as the others which maybe stops it from sliding off your face as easily. This is more of a hybrid between a cream and powder and I will definitely be buying more of them!

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation | Review | Link

April Favourites: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

This month I have put my trusty Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua to the side a little more and made more effort to use some of my other favourite foundations. The one I got back into using most recently is the Rimmel Match Perfection which is a great quality product considering the low price.

Rimmel Match Perfection provides low-medium coverage and works really well with my combination skin. The formula is soft and creamy so it blends extremely well and the staying power is really good too.

Although this foundation is heavier than my other favourites it's been nice to start using it again this month and it's great for days when I feel like I need a little more coverage than normal!

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Perfume | Review | Link

April Favourites: Juicy Couture

I really love perfumes but they don't appear on my blog every often because I really struggle to talk about them. It's easy to describe packaging to someone and how a product works for you but when it comes to smells I struggle to describe them in such a way the reader can relate. It's one of those things that may sound good in words but until you actually smell it for yourself you can't really imagine what it's going to be like but I will give it a go!

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy is a fun, youthful scent that matches the funky packaging perfectly. The notes are wild berries, mandarina, honeysuckle, gardenua, jasmine, amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and praline which when combined create a beautiful sweet, feminine fragrance.. I love it!

Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Gloss | Link

April Favourites: Urban Decay Lip Gloss

When I was younger I used to wear lip gloss all the time but then I went through a stage of reaching for my lipsticks or balms every day instead. Recently I have really got back into wearing glosses and one of my 'go to' ones during April has definitely been the Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Gloss in Obsessed

Obsessed is a really pretty pink which looks great on it's on or when combined with lipsticks to add a little extra shine to your finished make-up look. The formula is thick and creamy so it feels hydrating on the lips but it is slightly sticky. This lip gloss has an amazing peppermint smell which I really like too!

*Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale Candle

April Favourites: Guerlain Candle

Last but not least is this gorgeous candle by Guerlain. I love the bright blue holder as it is different from your typical transparent glass and the bright white candle inside makes a lovely contrast.

The candle itself has a beautiful sweet floral scent which I absolutely love. It's one of those candles you want to keep picking up and sniffing when you walk past (when it's not lit of course!).

When this candle is burning the entire house is filled with the scent and it lingers until the following day.

I have searched the internet high and low for a link to this product but I can't find one! My one is from Debenhams so they definitely stock them.

Tutorial | How to Create a Simple Bun Hairstyle

Tutorial: Bun Hairstyle Tutorial: Bun Hairstyle Tutorial: Bun Hairstyle Tutorial: Bun Hairstyle

Hello Everyone! Today's blog post is all about a simple everyday hair style you can re-create with minimal effort in only five-ten minutes.  It's perfect to wear during Spring and Summer when you want to keep your hair up out of your face and neck and looks great both during the day softened by pulling out some small strands of hair or in the evening blinged up to make it look a little more fancy. It's one of those hairstyles which is really versatile so whether you want to achieve a quick messy look or neatly finished you can!

What You Need:

- A brush
- Bobby Pins
- 1 Hair band
- 1 Bun Ring
- Hairspray

The Steps:

1) Brush your hair to remove any tangles
2) Scoop your hair into a pony tail and tie with the thin hair band. You can make it as tight or lose as you like and also experiment with where you want your bun. You don't have to have it up high like I have, it looks very pretty down low to the side too.
3) Put your pony tail through the bun ring so it is sitting at the base.  Grab your pony tail and fan it out a little before wrapping it over the edge of the bun ring to the other side and then wrapping it around. Make sure you cover all of the bun ring. This gets easier with practice.
4) Tuck the end of your hair under the bun ring and clip in place using the bobby pins. You can use as many as you like depending on how secure you need it to be. I usually use up to ten. To finish spray all over with hair spray.

Tips:

1) This works best one 1 day old hair as the grips stay in better
2) The bigger your pony tail the messier the effect and the easier it is to cover the bun ring so maybe think about using extensions, back combing your hair or using textured hair rather than straight.

What do you think of this hair style and tutorial?

Lifestyle | My First Poker Game & How to Buff in Poker

How to Bluff in Poker

Back in March my boyfriend and I were invited to our friends house for our first 'rum and poker night'. The prospect was a little daunting at first because neither of us had a clue how to play poker (Texas Hold 'Em) but we both enjoyed the evening immensely.  It's a really interesting game because no matter how good or bad your hand is you have a chance to win.  This is because you can bluff your way through the game.

Bluffing is something I didn't think I would be any good at because I can't lie to save my life. I'm always told I'm very easy to read so this game really put that to the test. It's important to bluff during poker, though.  If you don't everyone will know you only play a round if you're holding good cards and of course it's also fun to mix things up a little and try to trick your opponents so you have a chance to win more chips.  Below is a video all about why you should bluff while you play poker and more importantly how you do it. It's particularly useful for beginners like me because it gets straight to the point, is short and easy to understand! Here it is:

Despite never playing poker before luck was on my side and on this occasion I won the overall game! It was really fun and I would definitely play again, in fact a game might be on the cards next weekend along with a yummy BBQ.  It's pretty quick to pick up, particularly if you are playing in a group where at least a couple already know how to play and it will definitely keep you entertained for a good few hours! Bare in mind though, you can lose as easily as you can win so if you are playing for money be very cautious guys!

'Obsessed' Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip Gloss Review

Urban Decay Lip Gloss Urban Decay Lip Gloss Urban Decay Lip Gloss Urban Decay Lip Gloss

When I was younger, without fail I would have a tube of lip gloss with me and use it to top up my lip colour throughout the day but over the past few years I have been more interested in using lipsticks, lip balms and lip stains.

My lip glosses have been very much neglected as I've only used them on the rare occasion but over the past month I've really got back into them. One of my 'go to' ones has been Obsessed by Urban Decay which is a beautiful pink shade that can be easily worn every day.

I like to wear Obsessed on it's own to give my lips a pale splash of colour or teamed with a pale lipstick such as MAC Hue or Creme Cup. This is definitely a 'your lips but better colour' and it looks lovely when teamed with a simple natural make-up look or even with a heavier make-up look in the evening.

The formula of the Urban Decay Lip Junkie glosses are thick and creamy so they feel hydrating on the lips but the texture is ever so slightly sticky. It isn't enough to make me stop using it and as lip glosses go it's pretty good but something to avoid if you really dislike that texture.

Obsessed is homed in a transparent tube that shows of the gloss perfectly. I really like the shape because it's different from any others on the market and the intricate detailing on the lid is pretty and makes the product feel expensive (which it is in comparison to the drug store equivalents but that is to be expected). There is no doe foot applicator to apply the gloss and instead you simply squeeze the tube and smooth the product onto the lips. This means it can be hard to get the right amount of product and I often find I little too much comes out so it's not ideal to use on the go.

Overall I really like this gloss. It feels a little heavy on the lips in comparison to a lipstick but the colour is beautiful and I really like the peppermint fragrance.  You can buy the Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lip glosses from Debenhams for £13.00. The colour selection is gorgeous and definitely worth a look!

What do you think of this lip gloss?

You Tube: My Current Top 3 Foundations

You Tube: My Top 3 Foundations

Hello Everyone! There will be two blog posts today so watch this space! The first is about a You Tube video I filmed yesterday featuring my current top 3 favourite foundations. I wrote a blog post about this last week too which you can read here but after having a really long break from You Tube (almost a year) I've decided to give it another try.

The main reason why I stopped doing You Tube was because I didn't really have the right equipment so I found it would take ages to get everything set up and film but I wasn't happy with the end result. As I've now got a new camera which has more settings and a flip screen I decided to give it another try and it is 100% easier now!

I'm still really new to You Tube and because I'm shy I do find it really difficult compared to blogging. My videos definitely aren't the best and there is a lot of room for improvement but if you could please take a look at my latest one below and show it some love that would really help me gain some confidence! I think it's one of those things that will definitely get easier over time after lots of practice. A cheeky thumbs up or comment would be amazing!

You can view my whole You Tube channel here.

Do you have a You Tube Channel? If so, leave your link below! If not, are you thinking of starting one?

For anyone who is interested, the video will be up within the next hour (it's uploading now) and will be appearing on my channel here. My first video's are extremely cringe worthy and really hard to film because I didn't have the right equipment or lighting but I'm pretty pleased with how today's one turned out :)

Anyway, onto today's blog post, a simple Spring every day make-up look. The picture quality isn't the best because I took it on my phone I'm afraid but hopefully it shows the make-up well enough for this short post :) The look I was going for was simple, girly, fresh and natural which I think I achieved. REN V-Cense Day and Night Cream Review

REN Skin care REN Skin care REN Skin care

If I had to choose one skin care brand to use forever then it would be REN. Don't get me wrong, I do use other brands in my skin care routine but everything I have tried from REN so far I have loved and they are one of those brands that you can trust to offer a high quality, reliable product.

My favourite REN product is the Glycolactic Face Mask which does wonders for my skin and leaves it looking fresh and glowing after I use but but my more recent loves have been the *V-Cense day and night creams.

I've been using the V-Cense range for the past month or so and I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin. The formula of both creams is thick and creamy with the night one being a little more so which is to be expected. The fragrance is a little unusual as it contains frankincense which I don't think would appeal to everyone. Initially I wasn't too keen but it has definitely grown on me since using it and now I actually quite like it. My boyfriend, however, isn't a fan at all.

V-Cense contains anti aging properties which is a great bonus and is something I look for in skin care products now that I am in my mid twenties. The formula glides well over the skin and absorbs quickly so it is fine to use before applying make-up. I also find a little goes a long way with this moisturiser so you need to be careful how much you apply otherwise you can end up being a little shiny. As for skin types, personally I think it would suit dry or combination skin best but I would recommend asking for a sample size if you are thinking of giving it a go.

The REN V-Cense range are my current favourite moisturisers for day and night and I really enjoy using them. It leaves my skin is smooth, well hydrated and glowing which is perfect. I saw an improvement after using these products for just a couple of weeks and my make-up applies beautifully after I have used the day cream. It will be a sad day when they run out. I would definitely re-pirchase!

If you want to give this range a try you can buy it from REN for £28.00 (Day Cream) £32.00 (Night Cream).

What is your favourite moisturiser? Have you tried the V-Cense range?

6 Must Have High End Spring Make Up Products

6 Spring Make-up PicksSpring has definitely sprung, the leaves are green, the blossom is a flurry of white and pink on trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom.  This was the inspiration for today's post, make-up that is perfect for Spring time.  I've been using these products more and more over the last weeks and each and every one of them is beautiful.  For those of you that prefer to use high street products rather than high end keep an eye out for a similar post that will make an appearance over the next couple of weeks.

#1 YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in No.8
YSL Lipstick
I absolutely love YSL lipsticks because they are so soft and creamy. They never leave my lips feeling dry and uncomfortable and although they aren't particularly long lasting they never smudge or look patchy.
My most worn YSL lipstick is definitely no.8Fetish Pink in the Rouge Volupte Shine range which can definitely be described as the perfect nude or 'your lips but better' shade.  This lipstick gives me a gorgeous pop of colour which isn't too subtle but at the same time isn't too overpowering and the lipstick goes with every make-up look I create.

I can't talk about a YSL lipstick without mentioning the stunning packaging. The gold case and intricate detailing exposing a flash of the lipstick colour that hides within is beautiful and is definitely the best I've seen on the market.

Priced at £24.50 the YSL lipsticks are very expensive but I absolutely love them. Read my review here.

#2 Nars Alhambra Eyeshadow Duo
Nars Alhambra Eyeshadow
Next is this beautiful eyshadow duo from Nars called Alhambra.  The shades are perfect for when you want to brighten up your eyes and wear very light natural make-up for an every day look. Both have a pretty shimmer and the pink champagne and subtle gold look perfect all over the lid on their own or with a darker shade added into the crease for a little more depth.

The formula is soft and creamy meaning they blend very well and the staying power is pretty good when combined with a primer such as the Urban Decay Priming Potion.  Team this with mascara and a little eyeliner (if you wish) and you're good to go!

You can pick up this eyeshadow duo for £25.00. Read my review here.

#3 MAC Soft and Gentle Highlighter
MAC Soft and Gentle HIghlighter
MAC Soft and Gentle highlighter is a popular and well loved product which is perfect to use in spring. I love teaming it with a pretty pink natural blush to give my cheek bones an extra healthy glow as well as my brow bones. This is one of those products that everyone notices when you wear it and it really finishes off a make-up look.

I will be wearing Soft and Gentle almost every day throughout the Spring and Summer months!

You can buy MAC Soft and Gentle for £22.00 and read my review here.

#4 Nars Laguna Bronzer
NARS Laguna Bronzer
Everyone has their Holy Grail bronzer and when I was first looking for one it was a toss up between Nars Laguna and Benefit's Hoola.  Having never tried anything from Nars before I opted for Laguna so I could try something completely new and I haven't looked back since.

Nars Laguna may look a little scary in the pan for some people but it is a bronzer that can easily be worn by people with different skin tones because it doesn't come out as dark as it looks. The creamy texture blends beautifully into the skin so it doesn't look streaky or cakey so it's perfect to use if you have a pale complexion like me.

This is now the second Nars Laguna I've had and sadly I hit pan a couple of days ago.. I will definitely be re-purchasing it as I will be using this a huge amount over Spring and Summer!

You can buy Nars Laguna for £26.00. Read my review here.

#5 Chanel Inspiration Cream Blush
Dior Inspiration Cream Blush
The most recent make-up product to find it's way into my collection is this stunning cream blush by Chanel.  In the past I haven't been drawn to cream products that much but lately they have been appealing to me more and more so whether it's a cream eyeshadow or blush it has caught my eye.

This particular blush is called 'Inspiration'  and is perfect for people who have a cool complexion. The pretty pink shade gives my cheeks the perfect pop of colour without being too in your face and since buying it I have worn it every day.

The formulation is soft and creamy but not as wet as some other cream blushers I have used but it still blends perfectly onto my skin and gives the perfect finish.

You can buy this blusher for £28.00. If you want to read a full review take a look at yesterday's post.

#6 Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

Last but not least on my Spring must haves is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation because the formula is very light so it is perfect to wear when the weather is getting a little warmer and you don't want to wear anything heavy. This is a great alternative to a BB cream and is my all time favourite foundation.

I'm not going to talk too much about it because this product has popped up in a number of posts and I don't want to bore those who have already read about it before so if you want to find out more have a look at this post.

You can buy Chanel Vitalumiere for £33.00 and read the review here.

What are your Spring make-up picks?
