Review | Hi Impact Brow Palette

Hi Impact Brows
Hi Impact Brows

When it comes to make-up I think one of the most important things you can do to complete your look is to define your brows. Over the years I've used a variety of products to fill in my brows to define the shape a little and make them look a little more full. Thankfully I haven't ever over plucked them so they don't look too bad but always look better once they've had a little attention.

Some of the eye brow products I have used in the past have included pencils which I have found to be a little harsh, eyeshadow which has worked well and softer shaping pencils that I've loved. It's been quite a few years since I used a palette specifically designed for eyebrows so I was very excited when the *Hi Impact Brow palette landed on my doorstep.

The packaging of this palette is simple glossy black which is compact so a good size for storage and travelling. Hidden inside are four gorgeous shades (light brown, red brown, dark brown and black) that will suit a variety of hair colours which is great because I often find I need to use a combination of two. It can be very hard to get an exact match and people often like to change the intensity of their brows depending on where they are going and the time of year so it's great this palette provides all your options in one place.

Not only are the shades beautiful but the formula is too. The texture is soft so it is very blendable and when applied with a suitable brush with a light hand the finish is very natural. Thanks to the strong pigmentation of every shade a little goes a long way too and application is quick as you don't have to spend too long building up the colour. The staying power is also brilliant and is enhanced more when brow gel is applied over the top.

Overall I have been really impressed by this product. It looks good, offers a high quality, blendable, pigmented formula and the packaging is sleek and slimline. I'm sure you could also double up this palette and use it for eyeshadow's too although I haven't tried this yet!

If you want to buy the Hi Impact Brow Palette you can purchase it from the Beauty Chamber website for £18.95.

What do you think of this palette? What do you use to fill in your brows?

Blogging | Why I Love Blogging

Why I Love Blogging

Hello Everyone! It is coming up to not only my Birthday but also Kimberley's Beauty Blog's second Birthday (next month) so it has really got me thinking about the past two years. Blogging has had a bigger impact on my life than I ever expected and now it is such a big part of my daily routine I would be completely lost without it. It actually makes me wonder what on earth did I do with my time before blogging?

I got thinking about some of my favourite things about blogging and why I love it so much which I'd like to share with you below.

Photography

If I'm honest I didn't really think very much about photography before blogging but over the past few years my skills have improved dramatically and I now it is something I really enjoy. I love setting up different backgrounds to show off the products to the full and it always makes shooting the pictures more fun than using the same white background every time.

Outside of blogging I have also been using my photography skills and now regularly find myself taking a snap of different things which interest me whether it's food, flowers, buildings or animals.

Writing Posts

A key part of blogging is writing posts which I absolutely love. I really enjoy sharing parts of my life with my readers whether they are personal posts relating to my up coming wedding, nights out with friends, reviews of products including beauty and candles or fashion and accessories that I have been loving. I love that this is my space on the web where I can share anything I like and can communicate with the world and talk about topics I am passionate about.

I haven't tried to write my blog posts in a specific way as I want my personality to come across so I tend to have a writing style that is informal and chatty. People close to me have often said when they read my posts they can imagine me saying the words because I write exactly how I speak which is comforting because I hope that adds something a little unique to my blog.

Discovering new products and brands

Without doubt blogging has introduced me to some amazing new brands and products I never would have known existed before. Some of these brands and products are now even my favourite's and 'go to' brands for certain things so it makes me sad to think I would have missed out on them.

Meeting New People

What started out to be a fun hobby has turned into something much more than that for me as blogging has meant I have met some amazing new people and formed some very good friendships. When I first started I underestimated how big the blogging network is and I am very thankful to be a part of it.

Whether I'm replying to reader's comments on my blog, chatting on Twitter or meeting people at events I love interacting and getting to know people and the support network is amazing.

Events

Blogging has opened up a whole new world to me and has meant I have had the opportunity to attend some incredible events. I love going because not only do you get to meet the people you regularly speak to via emails face to face but you also get to see the products up close and hear people who are passionate about them tell you more about them.

That's just a small summary of some of my favourite things about blogging but I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I would love to hear what your favourite things about blogging are too so please leave me a comment below so I can take a peak!

Lifestyle | Reading on a Kindle

Reading on a Kindle

When reading devices such as Kindle's first came onto the market the thought of them didn't appeal to me at all. I love reading but part of that satisfaction is plucking a book of the shelf, the smell, holding the book, reading the blurb and that exciting feeling as you're nearing the end. I just didn't think I would get the same feeling from a reading device.

For years I haven't even considered buying one, haven't even been tempted but I was going on holiday a couple of months ago it sparked up a conversation with friends about real books versus electronic books. The advantages of having a Kindle when going away won me over because quite simply I had more space in my case for my beauty products and shoes! Instead of having to find room for five bulky books all I had to do was take my slimline Kindle in my hand luggage which was perfect.

Don't get me wrong, I still love reading a traditional book but I'm now also loving my kindle too and although I've only had it since the end of August I've already read nine books and am on my tenth.

Do read on a Kindle?

Review | Roger and Gallet Body and Hair Oil

Roger and Gallet Body and Hair Oil
Roger and Gallet Body and Hair Oil

Today's post is all about a product and brand I recently discovered and love. Roger and Gallet was established in 1982 in Paris and started as a perfumery which is definitely evident in the bath and hair *oil product I will be talking about today. The fragrance is like no other oil I have tried and words just cannot do justice to how beautiful this sweet, floral Fleur d'Osmanthus scent is. The rich aroma lingers on my skin for hours after application and it has a very luxurious and expensive feel to it.

As for the oil itself? It's equally as gorgeous. It absorbs into my skin extremely quickly and instantly nourishes and hydrates without feeling the slightest bit greasy or uncomfortable. It also contains some beautiful ingredients including apricot oil which is rich in Omega 6 and powerful antioxidant vitamins A and E, Sesame and Sweet Almond.

What I love about this oil though is that it is multi-purpose. As well as using on your body you can also use it on your hair which leaves it looking and feeling healthy. I apply the oil to my hair when it is damp, just before blow drying it and then add a little more after styling. Each time I only use a small around, less than a pea size which is ample and never apply it to my roots. My hair is left feeling soft, silky and smelling gorgeous.

If you want to try this body and hair oil you can buy it from Essentual for £24.50. There is currently 1/3 off this price too!

What do you think of bath and hair oils? Have you tried this one?

Review | Smashbox Santigolden Eyeshadow Palette

Smashbox Eyeshadow Palette
Smashbox Eyeshadow Palette Smashbox Eyeshadow Palette Smashbox Eyeshadow Palette

This incredible limited edition *eyeshadow palette, created by artist Santigold was available exclusively at Smashbox this year. The collection was inspired by pyramids and snakes which is demonstrated by the fun an innovative packaging and is a product I have used a lot since first seeing it at the Smashbox event in May (read my post here). The packaging actually reminds me a little of YSL because of the gorgeous bright gold and intricate details but it obviously isn't quite so classic as their packaging.

Hidden inside the casing  is a stunning palette which holds five unique shades that will appeal to people who like to add a splash of colour to their eye lids. As I'm more of a neutrals girl it was a little daunting at first but it has encouraged me to be more creative with my eye makeup and I have really enjoyed using it!

My favourite shade in this palette is the brown taupe which I apply all over my lid and also the shimmery cream which makes a gorgeous highlighter. The pale green and slightly deeper shimmery green also look very pretty together and work well with my blue eyes although I tend to wear those less often. The bright blue is a gorgeous colour and although I don't wear this myself I think it would look really beautiful on someone who has brown eyes as it would really define them.

The quality of these eyeshadows is brilliant. The texture is soft and creamy so they are easily to work with and blendable meaning they are enjoyable to use. The compact is also an idea size to travel with.

This gorgeous palette that was released as part of the 2014 Santigold collection is still available in stores for the bargain price of £25.00.

What do you thinik of this eyeshadow palette?

Review | My Favourite Brands Part 1

My Favourite Brands Part 1

Hello Beauties! Today's blog post is the start of a mini series where I will share my favourite brands with you. I'm going to give you an insight into my 'go to' brands for certain products and why I go back to them time and time again as well as recent discoveries I love.

This series will include numerous posts so if you want to suggest a specific area please feel free to leave a comment below to request it. I will be talking about a broad range of areas from beauty to fashion to jewellery and candles :)

In no particular order, let's get started!

Make-up Brushes

The first area I am looking at are makeup brushes where I definitely have some favourite brands.

First is Sigma who are top of my list because they offer a huge range of brushes at reasonable prices. The bristles are soft and good quality, the handles comfortable to hold and they come up well after every wash. When I first ordered my Sigma brushes I got them sent over from the US as at that time it worked out much cheaper, however, the delivery costs have now increased so in the future I will order from a UK site such as Beauty Chamber. My favourite Sigma Brush is the F80 which is a flat kabuki and perfect for blending in foundation for a flawless look.

Next on my list are MAC brushes, in particular their eye makeup brushes such as the 217 which is brilliant for blending eyeshadow. Again, the range of brushes is good but I find the quality has deteriorated a little which means some of my brushes, especially my blush one sheds which is a little annoying. Even so, MAC is a well respected brand for brushes and you'll definitely find what you need here.

Last of all are Real Techniques brushes which are a really great drug store alternative to the above. Priced well, these brushes are worth the price tag and are soft so don't irritate my skin. They also recover from cleaning well. The Real Techniques range of brushes is slowly increasing but I'd definitely watch out for the naming conventions on them as I find I often use them for something completely different than they are intended. For example, I use the blush brush for powder as it is large.

Brush Cleaner

This moves on nicely to my next topic, brush cleaner. I haven't tried a lot of different brush cleaners but out of the ones I have there are two that stand out. Firstly, the MAC brush cleaner which leaves my brushes feeling soft and looking as good as new and secondly simple baby shampoo. I tend to use the latter more now as it is much more economical although my brushes do tend to take a little longer to dry.

Bath Products

Next on my list are bath products and there are two stand out brands for me here. The first will be obvious to anyone who follows my blog or Twitter as it is Lush. If you've never been to Lush before because you have been put off the intense smell as you walk up to the shop I would definitely recommend venturing in and buying a couple of products to try. Once they are in a different environment so you can smell them individually they are gorgeous and I don't think you'l be disappointed.

I love Lush because the range of products is huge and they are fun and innovative. When we come up to each season I always look forward to seeing what new products they have on offer and if any of my favourite's are making a re-appearance. I'm yet to find a product I have been disappointed in.

My favourite Lush products include the bath bombs, shower gels, shampoo bars, bubble bars and soaps.

Another favourite brand of mine for bath products are Laura Mercier as their bath melt is simply divine. It's such a luxurious product I use it with moderation but the whole bathroom is filled with a delicious aroma that lingers on my skin and makes it soft and smooth. My favourite scents are Ambre Vanille and Creme Brule.. yum!

Foundation

I'm going to break down the makeup brands I like into categories as I tend to go to different brands depending on the product. First up are foundations where there are three stand out brands for me, two high end and one drug store.

When it comes to foundation I've never had a preference over high end or drug store but over the years as I've tried more products I guess I've leaned more towards high end simply because those are the products that have worked best with my skin type which is combination - normal.

The foundation I have been using for most of this year has been Nars Sheer Glow. The price tag is high but it blends beautifully over my skin and gives it a healthy yet natural glow which I love. The shade match is perfect and no matter what tool I use the end result is also great. This is my current favourite foundation.

Next is Chanel who have a lot of gorgeous products, one of my favourite's being the foundations. The Vitalumiere Aqua foundation was a favourite of mine for years until I discovered Nars but is very high quality and still a staple in my collection. The formula is very light weight and doesn't make my skin break out. I love it.

Last but not least is the drug store brand Rimmel. When it comes to foundations Rimmel have got it right as they offer a reasonable range of shades with a high quality formulation that isn't too thick or thin. It isn't cakey and is reasonably long lasting so if I'm looking for a foundation that isn't too pricey Rimmel is the place I go. My favourite is Match Perfection.

I hope you liked today post and having a sneaky peak at my favourite brands. I have tried to mix up the topics to make each post a little more interesting and go into some detail so you know why I have chosen each of them. Watch this space for part 2 in the series.

What did you think of part 1 of my favourite brands? What are some of your favourites?

Lifestyle | Light Lunch Idea's with Eggs

Michel Roux Eggs

Regular readers of my blog will know I like to mix things up a bit so today's post is one for all the foodies out there.

One of the staple products in our diet are eggs and rightly so because not only are they full of nutrients and protein but they are also versatile so you can create a whole host of different meals and treats with them. Here are some light bites using eggs I sometimes eat for my lunch which are quick and easy!

Scrambled Eggs on Toast With Smoked Salmon

I love creamy scrambled eggs made in the microwave with milk, butter and seasoning. It's such an easy meal to put together yet is filling and can be combined with extra's such as smoked salmon to make it even more tasty.

Poached Eggs on Toast

I often have poached eggs on toast drizzled in ketchup as it's a filling yet healthy meal. I love when the yolk of the egg oozes over the crispy toast.. yum!

Omelette

I love omlette because you throw almost any ingredients into them and create a completely different result each time. Some of my favourite's include, cheese, ham and mushroom, plain and Spanish omlette's. The latter are particularly nice cold too so you can make a large one and eat it over a couple of days if you're and about and in need of a speedy lunch.

Soft Boiled Egg with Bacon and Soldiers

Eggs with soldiers take me back to my childhood as my dad used to often cook this for me with the added extra of bacon occasionally. It makes a nice twist to a delicious classic and there's something very satisfying about dipping your toast in a golden, runny yolk.

Eggs Benedict

This meal takes a few more ingredients than the others but it's richer and more luxurious. I only have eggs benedict on the rare occasion but when I do I really enjoy it.

Fried Egg Sandwich

Okay, this one isn't the healthiest option but it sure is tasty! A fried egg sandwich is a simple treat that uses minimum ingredients and when combined with brown and red sauce (yes, I know it's weird I like both) it's even better!

Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich

If you fancy a sandwich for lunch but something which isn't hot so can be transported then maybe an egg mayonnaise is up your street. You simply boil eggs and crush them with seasoning and mayonnaise to create a tasty filling for your bread of choice!

Nicoise Salad

A super healthy option for lunch which is full of protein is a nicoise salad. Traditionally this includes hard boiled eggs, tuna, plum tomatoes, new potato's and salad leaves or lettuce but of course you can mix this up with other ingredients too. This is a particular favourite of mine in the Summer as it's light and fresh.

Croque Madame

A Croque Madame is a meal I only discovered this Summer and is a twist on the Croque Monsieur which to put it simply is a cheese and ham toastie. The exciting twist with a Croque Madame, however, is that it has a fried egg on top!

What do you like to eat for lunch using British Lion Eggs?
