Favourites | February Favourites

February Favourites

Another month has gone by in a flash and that means one thing... it's time to share my favourite products with you! Let's get straight into it:

February Favourites: Nuxe Lip Balm

Firstly I have the Nuxe lip balm which is just delicious. It smells like lemon and honey and is very thick and luxurious so does a great job at nourishing my lips. Unlike other lip balms I don't have to constantly re-apply it during the day to keep my lips moisturised as it lasts for hours and a little goes a long way so although this small pot it pretty pricey it lasts ages. I have had mine for months and use it daily.. it's barely even dented!

February Favourites: The Body Shop Baked Blush

Next is a blush I recently re-discovered when I was re-organising my makeup and has been somewhat overlooked in the Winter months. This pretty baked blush is by The Body Shop and is a mixture of two shades, peach and a pretty pink. When swirled together they create a natural looking blush when applied to the cheeks with lots of shimmer so I never wear this with a highlighter.

This blush is great to use during Spring and Summer but I'm also enjoying it now as it makes a refreshing change and gives my cheeky a healthy glow.

February Favourites: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

Next is a blush I bought last month and have been loving ever since. The Maybelline Dream Touch Blush is so soft and creamy it's a dream to work with and is perfect during the morning when I don't have much time. The shade I have is peach which gives my cheeks a natural healthy glow all day. It's very subtle so can easily be paired with a variety of makeup looks.

February Favourites: MAC Hue Lipstick

Next is a MAC lipstick I've had for ages which is called Hue. This is a pale nude which on it's own doesn't work too well for me as it washes me out but when combined with a lip gloss it gives my lips a pretty splash of baby pink which works beautifully with lots of different make up looks.

I've been using this combination a lot over the past month for work because I don't like to wear too much make-up and don't often go for a bright lip so this is perfect. It looks lovely with a simple neutral eye or a heavier smokey one so is pretty versatile.

February Favourites: MAC Soft and Gentle

Next is an old favourite I hadn't been reaching for much until recently and that is MAC Soft and Gentle. This product looks so pretty in the pan and definitely seems to be never ending because it doesn't matter how much I use it, it never seems to go down which is obviously a good thing.

Soft and Gentle looks gorgeous when added to my cheeks and brow bones and it definitely gives my face a healthy glow. It's a very pretty product that I think will always have a place in my make-up collection.

February Favourites: Revlon Kissable Lip Stain

Last but not least, this month I have been loving my Revlon Kissible Lip Balm. I have this product in the colour Crush which is a beautiful rich berry that reminds me of MAC Rebel lipstick.

I've found the best way to use this lip product is to apply it using a brush as I can get a cleaner line and a less patchy effect. This also means it wears off more evenly too although it is pretty long lasting. I like the Revlon Kissable lip balms because they are comfortable to wear, don't dry my lips and are available in lots of shades.

Well that's it for another month. I look forward to seeing what my favourite are during March.

What do you think of my favourites?

Fashion | My Accessory Wish List

Accessory Wish List

It's no secret I'm addicted to accessories, particularly shoes and handbags so there's always some of these I have my eye on. I wanted to share my current wish list with you which includes a gorgeous selection of products from House of Fraser, New Look and Accessorize. Let me know your favourite below!

The first shoes I am loving are the stunning Carvela Gosh High Heel Sandals. These are very elegant due to the pretty delicate straps which cover the front of the foot as well as the top at a unique slant. These shoes are perfect for adding subtle bling to an outfit and would go with a multitude of different outfits as they are gold.  At 4.7 inches they may not be for everyone but I'm definitely in love.

The second pair of shoes I've got my eye one funnily enough are also gold (I seem to be drawn to the colour at the moment) but look completely different. The Miss KG Gertrude Sandals are a lot more detailed as they have an intricate criss-cross design with the straps that go over the foot. This design really makes a change to your average strappy shoe and it would look lovely with dresses, skirts and jeans. The heel of these shoes are 4 inches.

Next is a gorgeous black bag by Ted Baker which I was drawn to firstly because of the bow design. I've seen this on lots of products by this brand and I really like it because it's pretty and feminine. I'm also a fan of the high gloss jet black finish of this bag because it's totally different to any other bag in my collection and it's a good size so I could fit plenty of my possessions in it.. probably far too many than I should be carrying around!

Michael Kors is definitely one of my favourite handbag designers and this gorgeous tote has caught my eye.  Surprisingly I haven't got any navy handbags in my collection and when I spotted this one I thought it was a refreshing change to the many black and brown variations I have. The tote is also such a versatile, classic shape it is something that can easily be used for years without becoming outdated.

The last pair of shoes on my wish list are the Dune Celia Leather Peeptoe Wedge Court Shoes which are perfect for the Spring and Summer. The combination of bubblegum pink with the cork wedge works really well and these would look great with white jeans or pretty Summer dresses. I think these may be my favourite item on my wish list!

The clutch bag on my wish list is the L.K Bennett Leonie Asymmeric Clutch bag which is simply adorable. I really like the combination of different colours and I think it would look really great when teamed with a simple little black dress and heels. As well as the polka dot design the opening flap of this bag is really unique as it is at a slant and makes this product more fun and interesting.

As we are approaching Spring and Summer I have had my eye on sandals and this pair from New Look are very pretty. They are Gold Gem Embellished T-Bar sandals which have lots of detailing and are just perfect to wear on holiday, casually at home or dress add a little bling to an outfit. I'd love to get these for my honeymoon.

Being a big fan of pink, you won't be surprised to see a pink bag on my accessory wish list. This gorgeous bubble gum pink Mini Isabella Winged Tote by Accessorize is such a gorgeous shade it would really make an outfit pop. I could imagine teaming it with white jeans and a white or floral top plus the T-Bar sandals above, it would look lovely.  The finish of this bag is leather look with metallic details and detachable card holder.

Review | Stylfile 2 by Tom Pellereau

Stylfile 2
Stylfile 2
Stylfile 2

A few weeks ago I wanted to do a French Manicure on my nails and as I hadn't been well they were looking a little worse for wear and could really do with some attention. My normal nail file (just a standard one) was no where to be found so I asked my Fiance to get one while he was out doing the food shop. What he came back with wasn't quite what I'd expected.

Having been a fan of the Apprentice I recognised the product straight away as one that was created by inventor Tom Pellereau, the winner of series seven. This is definitely a nail file with a twist because it is multiple purpose. Not only does it include four different surfaces to allow you to smooth, buff and shine your nails but also two tools to push back your cuticles and scrap away dirt from under your nails.

I've used this nail file quite a lot over the last few weeks and I've been really impressed with it. Never have my nails felt so soft and looked so shiny. It is also very easy to use as the curve is comfortable to hold and allows you better control than a normal nail file. I've also found my fragile nails haven't broken, chipped or split once when using it which is brilliant. However, I do find it harder to shape my nails as none of the surfaces seem quite rough enough. It just means it takes a bit longer than usual which isn't necessarily a bad things as maybe taking more time and care over my nails will make them look better.

I'm so glad my Fiance bought this product for me. It's a great discovery and I love using it, I find it far better than a standard nail file. Priced at £4.49 in Boots it's considerably more expensive but in my opinion, definitely better!

What is your favourite nail file? Have you tried the stylfile 1 or 2?

Review | Lush Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar

Lush Honey I Shrunk The Kids Shampoo Bar

Firstly, apologies the background of the photo is Christmas themed. I got a few things in the Lush Boxing Day sale (read my haul post here) and I took photo's of the products for my reviews before I used them so they still looked nice and didn't think ahead oops. The glitter is from other products.

I've tried a couple of the Lush Shampoo bars in the past and have always been impressed, particularly by Seanik (read my review here) so when I saw they had one in my all time favourite Lush scent Honey I Washed My Hair I just had to buy it, in fact I got two for good measure. This scent is the same as the soap and and Honey Bee bath bomb and is deliciously sweet but not sickly in the slightest.. I love it.

The shampoo bars are much easier to use than you may first think as you simply wet them and rub them directly onto your hair. Within seconds the toffee scent starts to fill the bathroom and the shampoo begins to lather. You then just wash your hair as normal.

This shampoo bar leaves my hair soft and shiny thanks to the wonderful properties of honey which is also said to be moisturising. Honey I Washed My Hair also contains orange and bergamot oils which are said to be refreshing, uplifting and cleansing. After using this shampoo my hair feels clean and soft plus doesn't frizz on drying which is perfect. Strangely I find some products I use have this affect so that's a key thing for me when purchasing hair care products.

You can buy the Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar from Lush for £5.75 which is a total bargain as they say you can get up to 80 washes from it. I would also recommend purchasing one of the tins to store it in otherwise as does tend to make a bit of a mess on the side of the bath or wherever you leave it until it dries.

What do you think of the Lush Shampoo bars?

Review | My New Kurt Geiger Shoes

Kurt Geiger Shoes
Kurt Geiger Shoes
Kurt Geiger Shoes
Kurt Geiger Shoes

Anyone who knows me will be aware I'm a little obsessed with shoes, they really are my weakness. I have a large collection and one of my favourite brands is Kurt Geiger because they are relatively affordable, good quality and usually pretty comfortable too.

The latest addition to my shoe collection are these gorgeous black suede court shoes from the Miss KG range which my Fiance bought me for my Birthday back in November. I was on the look out for a new pair of easy to wear black shoes as I was getting a little bored of my current ones and wanted some that were a little different. I love these because they have a pretty feminine strap that goes across the foot, the finish is suede so they have a nice soft texture and the shape and the size or the heel is exactly what I was after.

I've found that these shoes do come up a little big though, so despite having my usual UK size 4 (European 37) one of them slips a little so I had to add an innersole. Now they fit much better they are super comfy and I can wear them for several hours without my feet hurting which is perfect. I also love how versatile they are because they look great with trousers, skirts, dresses and jeans. The only downside is they do tend to attract fluff a little so it's definitely a pair that need to be stored away in their box!

If you want to buy these shoes you can purchase them from Kurt Geiger for £60.00. They are called Claire.

Review | YSL Black Opium Perfume

YSL Black Opium Perfume

When I was shopping with one of my friends months ago we went past the YSL stand in Debenhams where they were displaying the recently launched Black Opium fragrance by YSL, after just one smell I was hooked.

Black Opium is a gorgeous warm and spicy scent which is perfect for the evening and these cold Winter nights we are having.  It also has a edgy young feel to it which suits the fun yet sophisticated packaging well. There's something very unique about this scent I can't put my finger on but needless to say I love it. The dark notes of black coffee mixed with white florals, jasmine and a shot of vanilla results in a sweet heavenly scent that lingers for hours but isn't the slightest bit overpowering.

This perfume is simply delicious.

If you want to buy this product it is available in a number of stores including Debenhams. Prices vary depending on size but 30ml is £44.00.

Have you smelt this gorgeous perfume? Which is your favourite?

Review | Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar
Lush Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

Being a big fan of Lush means at least once a month one of their products features on my blog and this time it's the turn of the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar which is part of the Limited Edition Christmas range.

I've used the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar for the past couple of years and it's one of my favourites because it smells just like Snow Fairy Shower Gel, a delicious mixture of candy floss, pear drops and bubble gum. Of course it is also right up my street because it is pink, my favourite colour. Combined with the pink are swirls of white and glitter which results in a gorgeous girly product which personally I think would probably be more suited to Spring or Summer because it reminds me of that time of year.

Candy Mountain is big enough to allow up to three baths from it although of course that depends how generous you are. It leaves the water luxuriously silky and like the name suggests also creates bundles of fluffy bubbles which also leave your skin feeling lovely and soft.

If you want a relaxing bubble bath full of shimmer, pink and sweet aroma's then this is the bubble bar for you!

If you want to try Lush Candy Mountain keep an eye out for it around November time.. fingers crossed it will be released again this year as part of the Christmas range.

Review | Origins Ginzing Moisturiser

Origins Ginzing Moisturiser
Origins Ginzing Moisturiser

Over the years I have tried a lot of different skin care brands but Origins is definitely one that has stood out for me. After trying their Make a Difference Moisturiser and Drink It Up Overnight Face Mask it has quickly become my go to brand for skin care and I'm yet to be disappointed with any of the products I have tried.

Once I had finished my Make a Difference Moisturiser I decided to take the plunge and try the much hyped about Ginzing Moisturiser. I had great expectations for this product after reading a lot of reviews about it and seeing nothing but good things on my Twitter feed and I haven't been left disappointed. Firstly, it smells just like fresh oranges which is amazing. It's refreshing yet sweet and reminds me of Summer which matches the bright orange packaging perfectly. I really love it.

The formula of this oil-free Ginzing moisturiser is also very light-weight on the skin and it absorbs quickly which is something I always look for.  It is perfect to use in the morning before applying make-up as creates a lovely smooth, hydrated base which means my makeup applies well. The texture is a gel which glides over the skin effortlessly and a little of this product goes a long way which means this little pot lasts a lot longer than you expect it to which to me makes it worth every penny.

I have combination skin and the Ginzing moisturiser works perfectly for me. It leaves my skin feeling and looking hydrated, revitalised and with a healthy glow thanks to the skin boosters Ganax Ginseng and Coffee Beans. It also hasn't caused me to have any break-outs which is an obvious bonus.  I'm really glad this moisturiser is as good as everyone says. It really is worth the hype and I would definitely re-purchase it although if I had to choose my all time favourite is still Make a Difference as it is so good at hydrating my skin.

Origins is one of my favourite skin care brands and once again I haven't been disappointed.  If you want to try the Origins Ginzing moisturiser you can buy it from Boots for £26.00 (50ml)

Review | Essie It's Genius

Essie It's Genius

When I was re-organising my makeup collection last month I came across some nail polishes I forgot I had and one of these is this beautifully rich shade It's Genius which is by Essie. I was so excited when I saw it because even in the bottle it looks lovely and I couldn't wait to apply it. In fact, I did that same afternoon.

Essie polishes are one of my favourite brands of nail polish because they have a huge range available, most of the formula's are consistent so you know what you're getting when you purchase a new one and the price is reasonable. It's always fun scanning the shelves in Boots or Superdrug to find a hidden gem and this shade is definitely one of those.

It's a Genius is is a stunning violet quartz which has rich berry tones and a subtle shimmer running through it. The formula is smooth and you can easily achieve a flawless finish with just two coats. When combined with base and top coat this shades lasts around 5-6 days without chipping and is very wearable throughout the year but particularly in Autumn and Winter when this type of shade is most popular.

Since re-discovering this polish I have worn it a lot. Instead of switching my polishes weekly like normal I have just reapplied this one and wherever I go someone seems to comment on it. This shade is definitely a winner from Essie.

Essie It's a Genius is available at Boots for £7.99.

What do you think of Essie It's Genius?
